11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Wallets ~ Wallets ~ and More Wallets on: December 06, 2009 09:07:08 AM
This is the first time I've posted one of my projects.   Here are some Christmas presents I finished.  They get mailed tomorrow, so thought I would take some pics of them and share them with my Craftster friends.

I started with this tut:

but I changed some things.  I have 6 credit card pockets and did my zipper differently.

Don't tell my mom, my DIL's, or my best friend, Tammy about these.
Thanks for looking.

And I DID Enjoy !!  What a feast for the eyes.  What a lot of work you've put into your purses & bags.  Hope your day at was a success.  It appears in the pics that everyone was having a great time.  I'll bet those ladies at the salon went nuts.

You might want to take a look at this.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you're looking for STIFFY by the Yard.

I have used this and they are correct.  It is like Peltex and very similar to TimTex.  I've had good results with this product and this company.  I am not associated with them in any way, but the company and product have met and exceeded my expectations.  Maybe this will work for you, too.

I was thinking about this while I was sewing today.

Where on earth did you find all of those can pop tops?  How long did it take you to accumulate all of them?

I think this is a work of art and quite an achievement !

My jaw hit the floor when I saw your pics.
This is AMAZING !

Attempting a project like this is nuts -  BUT - to actually complete it Huh

I don't know what to say.  I am speechless.  I am in awe.  My hat is off to you.  What a great looking purse and what an amazing project.

I love it !!

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Closure opinions needed!!! on: November 14, 2009 06:52:36 AM
Some Food For Thought:
These are for a craft show.  These are not made for you & me.  These are going to be loved and carried by other people.

So the questions now becomes ~~~

What kind of security (low, medium, high) will other people be looking for in a purse?

What kind of closure can I put on this purse that will provide that security?

What closure is going to best enhance the beauty and functionality (is that a word) of the purse?

It's hard to know what someone else may be looking for in our product.  And it's even harder to put those features in a product and still be able to price it to sell.  Sometimes things I want to add to a purse will put the cost up to the point where people won't buy it.

I hope I'm making sense here.  I love your purse and fabric choice.  I'll bet you are going to sell the heck out of these.

I'm headed back to work now.  Have a good day,

Paula

I hope someone else comes in with more opinions.

I would never carry a purse without a zipper closure.  Never. Period.
Thus, I would have put a zipper closure in it.

That is just my opinion, and my opinion does not matter.  I make purses.  I make small simple bags with 2 & 3 zippers in them; I make large bags with inside zipper pockets & zipper closure; I make medium sized bags with zipper closures.  I guess I am pretty set on a zipper closure for any purse I make or carry.

That said, I would consider a magnetic closure on the one you have completed in the pic you have here.

Hope this helps a little,

Here is a product I've used and it works:

Have also used a dry bar of soap.

Hope this helps a little.

hmmm - originalandrea,

IF that is the bag it is easy to do.

It is a simple pleated bag, (as much or as little pleating as you want) with a top band.

Hoping the original poster comes back and talks to us so we know if this is what she wants.
