1  O(h)M(y)G(uinness)! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Cinnapaste on: October 13, 2010 01:58:56 PM
Hi guys!
So while out at goodwill one day with my mom I saw a great Guinness (Irish Beer if anyone doesn't know) tee. One little (or maybe I should say big...) problem.
It started out as a guys M!
I happen to be a girls XS.
I bought it anyway ($3!) hoping that I could resize it in my typical no sew fashion, but it wound up being the first project I ever used a sewing machine for! I was super excited.
With help from my Aunt (a lot of it. Like I said, I'd literally never sewn anything with a machine before. She got the machine set up and showed me where everything was.) and this tutorial:http://community.livejournal.com/t_shirt_surgery/2050500.html I now have an awesome new shirt that fits me much better!
Picture time!

This is what I wound up with. Smiley The tutorial shows how to reattach sleeves but I decided to cut the neckline and turn it into a tank top instead.

That is what I started with. I had already cut the sleeves off when I remembered to take a before picture. Haha.

I decided it needed a little something more, so I "braided" the back. I found a tutorial awhile ago for how to do this but I just have it memorized now. I'm sure I can find a tutorial video if someone wants one though.

and that's a picture of one of the side seems, because i'm still happy for myself with how they turned out. Haha.

Thanks for looking! Smiley I'm a little early (Ok, maybe a lot.) but i'm thinking it'll be perfect for St. Patty's Day.

2  Skirt for a nurse costume in Costumes: Discussion and Questions by Cinnapaste on: October 02, 2010 10:13:25 AM
Hi everyone Smiley
I've decided to go DIY for my costume this year because i'm planning on being a nurse and I just can't find anything I like or would want to pay $50-$70 dollars for  Undecided

I found this site:
http://five-plus-five.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-to-make-nurse-costume.html
and immediately thought it was a great idea. I wish I would have thought to use duct tape myself but i'm glad I found the website either way.

I want my skirt to look something like this, but longer! Because I really don't want my booty hanging out. That is also made of some mesh material that is somewhat see through and I don't want that either. Ha! I would also like the band to be a little thicker so I can add the crosses there but I figured that would be an easy mod to a pattern so that isn't too big of a deal.

My problem is that I have never sewn with a sewing machine, and do not know how to use patterns, but luckily one of my cousins has and is going to help me through the process. I was wondering if anyone has seen a pattern that would be close to that and how hard you think it would be for me to make being a beginner?
It doesn't really need to have the red stripes sewn on because I can use duct tape for those also.
I'm open to suggestions of patterns that are just similar too so it doesn't have to be exactly like that.

Thanks!

3  Re: Lets See Pics of Tattoos You Designed! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Cinnapaste on: April 22, 2010 10:12:55 AM
I've wanted the same tattoo since before my 16th birthday (I'll be 20 august 1st), but i've always wanted to either draw it myself or have a close friend do it for me. Well I finally drew it up the way I wanted and i'm going to take it to the shop I decide on and have one of their artists re draw it because I am by no means an artist.
The pic is my drawing and once I go in and have the artist draw it and I actually get it done i'll post another picture.

It's a claddagh. "The Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown)." -from the wiki page for those who don't know what it is.
My mom has one on the top of her foot and i've always loved hers and the idea of having one, it just took me a few years to decide the details and where I wanted to put it.

I want it on my side, across my ribs.
The next pic is so you can see what i'm talking about. I want mine to be a little smaller if possible, but i'll leave it up to the artist because I don't want them to lose detail because i wanted it smaller.
(this one may be considered nsfw? It shows some side boob because of the positioning, so if that could be offensive to you then please don't click the link.)

I want it to be all in the grayscale/shaded style like the placement pic or like this (when the link opens if you click the previous button there is another view of the same tattoo)

Although i've played with the idea of the lone four leaf clover (all but one will just be 3 leafed) being in color. I think it might be cool to have just the one spot of color on it, but then I also thought it might be cool to leave it like the rest because then it would be like looking for the four leaf clover instead of it being pointed out to you.

Questions? Comments?

4  Army battle, (Mountain Dew) cupcakes abundant! (sort of pic fat?) in Dessert by Cinnapaste on: March 25, 2009 11:48:32 PM
Hey everyone!
So my boyfriend's birthday is tomorrow (today technically.) and I wanted to make him these awesome mountain dew cupcakes I found the recipe for awhile ago (http://slush.wordpress.com/2007/09/03/mountain-dew-sweet-nectar-of-the-gods/) and he can be kind of immature (in the cute way) and likes his toys. He's also going into the army so I thought the army men would be fun.
I haven't taste tested the cupcakes yet because I was getting sick from the amount of sugar in the icing (that's probably a good reason for not eating huge globs of it...) but they look like they turned out quite awesome. I don't know if they'll really taste like mountain dew or not but I figured it was worth a try.
Now, on to the pictures. (Sorry, I went a little crazy, haha.)

5  A neuron, a sparrow and Johnny Depp walk into a bar... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Cinnapaste on: February 13, 2008 03:25:40 PM
So I suppose that's not really possible since sparrows fly and neurons are nerve cells and don't go to bars, but at least Johnny Depp can walk.

but anyway, I made some new resin pendants last night Cheesy They aren't actually pendants yet, but they will be in the near future.

Unfortunately my images weren't sealed well enough because i'm impatient and the glue was wet so I got quite a few bubbles Roll Eyes I love them anyway though.

The first one is a neuron cutout from a magazine. The front has part of the picture of it as the whole picture wouldn't fit in the mold I was using  Undecided and the back has the definition of a neuron. This one is my new favorite piece of resin that i've made.

Front and

Back.

The next one is a sparrow I cut out of a magazine and put over some scrapbook paper I had, the back of it is pink and wasn't interesting enough for me to take a picture of  Tongue

Next is a heart with the word "Trust" on it. The shape of the cut out on this one kind of bothers me and it floated a little of center but I still like it.

and last but not least. I have a Johnny Depp quote from and issue of "Esquire" that my mom and I have. It reads "My definition of freedom is simplicity". The background is a cut out from a magazine also and was originally flowers. The back of this one is plain and says "Johnny Depp" on it.

Thanks for looking  Cheesy
Let me know what you think, I love comments and constructive criticism.

6  Re: RESIN in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by Cinnapaste on: February 13, 2008 02:00:59 PM
Wow!
I finally finished reading all 66 pages of this thread Shocked
There is so much helpful information here.
Thanks everyone = ]

Here are a few of my favorite resin pieces i've made and the 4 I made last night.
The neuron one is probably my favorite.

those are all older pieces i've made.
The front of my new favorite resin piece. It's going to be a pendant as soon as I can get the jewelry findings for it.
The back of the neuron piece. Reads" Neuron n. :The nerve cell that transmits signals between the body and the brain.

The heart reads "Trust".
Reads "My definition of freedom, it simplicity." The back also says Johnny Depp on it, because the quote came from him out of an issue of Esquire my mom and I have.
The backs of those 3 are just scrapbook paper scraps I had around.

Let me know what you think  Smiley

p.s. Sorry for the pic overload  Embarrassed

7  Resin pendents and earrings = ] First Post! (Pic obese) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Cinnapaste on: February 10, 2008 10:56:57 AM
Hey Everyone = ]

This is my first post (that isn't a comment on someone else's work anyway.) so i'm pretty excited!
I love making resin pendants and earrings (and a million other things...)
These are some things I made over the summer and am just now posting and a few I made about a month ago.

Candy heart pendant and earrings (or again, they will be. I'm hoping I can get the earrings finished before valentine's day so I can wear them) the pink hearts in the pendent are smiley faces and the white one says "smile" and the hearts in the earrings say "hug me" on the pink one and "kiss me" on the green one.

candy heart earrings (at least they will be soon, I haven't added the findings to them yet.)
they say "ura 10" on them, and I couldn't resist using them because of the "shawty ur a 10" song, lol. I'll probably never wear them.

earrings with mini cola cans. These were some of the first things I ever made with resin, so they didn't turn out quite as good.

3 circular pendents

close up of the 1st pendent, it says "Love, a temporary"
and the back says "sum of existence"

Nautical hello kitty pendant. this one is one of my favorites but i've only worn it like once.

Lust pendant.

Most of them are made with magazine cutouts and the hk one was a sticker I had.

Thanks for looking.
Comments are appreciated = ]
