1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: my first attempt at a stenciled shirt on: August 27, 2004 10:48:19 PM
for under $5? wow. i used my dad's acrylic paint (free), some watercolor paper(also free) an old tshirt of my brothers (stolen, thus free) and a picture i found on the internet ($.10... can you believe the library charges to print???). The only things that really cost me money were the 2 bottles of Textile Medium (makes regular acrylic paint work as fabric paint. this was $2.79 x 2 at Fred Meyer's) and the sponge brushes I bought ($.49 and $.59) making my total... $7.24.

snaps for the under 5, then.

because i spent so much money i will go without food for two days.

but my shirt turned out well! there's a tutorial for stencilling shirts under Techniques>>Stencilling on the main Forum. it's very well written. you should check it out.

how did you make the flowers? would you mind terribly making a little tutorial? i would love it!

they're gorgeous. claire's sells a very similar pair, but for $6.25 US. crazy.

i'm a garage sale addict. you can find ANYTHING in people's boxes of old crap for 25 cents!

next time you see a G-SALE sign, check it out. if the family had a little girl there's usually plenty of Barbie accessories. and you can buy shoes by themselves.

i got the shoes pictured at fred meyer in a pack of 6 pair for $2.75 US. that's pretty steep, so i try to find them elsewhere.

also, try your local swap meet. Cheesy i'm thinking of doing purses next... i might also make a barbie shoe charm anklet or bracelet.

Welp, here it is, Kirk immortalized in green acrylic paint. How do i keep it from coming off in the wash/rain/accidental drool..?

It's my first, so it's only NEAR perfect. Haha, yeah right. I think the only way you can tell its Kirk is by the little communicater thing. Otherwise he could be Ben Affleck, or Dubya before the ugly tree accident.

(he's kind of distorted by my huuuuge nunga-nungas.

Comments/Criticism are appreciated mucho!
My next stencil: "le HAW HAW HAW" underneath an outline of a beret.
