1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Tribal Dragon Journal Cover...Mmmmm...Leather... on: April 07, 2009 09:05:28 PM
Thanks for all the lovely comments!
Now for the questions:
Q:How do you get the dragon on the leather exactly.
A: I have a special tracing paper. You trace the image onto the paper, then place it over the leather and go over it with a ball point pen-hard-and that will leave a slight imprint in the leather. You then use the rest of your tools to outline, etc.
Q:Are a lot of expensive tools required?
A: I bought a beginners kit from Tandy leather, and my aunt has been leather crafting for years, so she helped me on my first project. I used the kit for instructions, and I've never actually looked online for tutorials. The kit contains awesome instructions, and beginners kits. Here's the link to mine:

Q:What kind of paper did you include?
A: I bought a journal from Borders, this is actually a journal cover, he can slip it off and put it on another, if he wishes.
Q:Did you put a finish on it, or is it burnished?
A: I used a dye. This is french hide, so it doesn't take the  dye well, hence the streaking and blotches, but that's how I wanted it.

Hey everybody! This is my latest adventure in leather. This was a present for my dear boyfriend for our 2 year anniversary/bday. I found a picture of a tribal dragon tattoo online, and used it to make this journal cover. Anyway, pictures!

Sorry a few of them are blurry.

My goodness this is so cute! I love the frayed edges, they add a lot of character to the piece.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Drawstring back packs on: December 09, 2008 08:30:05 AM
That's funny, I made two of these last night, after inspecting one of my own. I made a camo one w/stars for my little bro, and a blue flowery one for the little girl down the street. Thanks for posting the tutorial, I'll try out the reversible ones next time.

The Brain that wouldn't die is pretty sweet. I would love an "Attack of the Killer Tomatos" dress, or shirt. The dress itself is pretty sweet, and the tee is amazing. Keep up the awesome work!

10  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: so I have 3 llamas.... on: April 22, 2008 10:33:09 AM
I sent you a pm.

Llamas are such fun creatures. My neighbor used to have one to guard his sheep. It was pretty cool, although it didn't like men. The ladies husband was okay, but it hated my dad. It was pretty awesome.
