1  COOKING / Dessert / Butterfly Cake!! on: April 03, 2009 11:43:23 PM
This cake was a lot of fun to make and very easy. I was assisted by my friend sera unravled and my other friends 5 year old son. Great project for kids! Be warned though; it is a  sugar overload.  Shocked

Directions can be founds here: http://brightideas.com/bright_idea.aspx?ID=481. I used two 8 inch pans and did a layer cake instead of using the 9 inch pan.

2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Be Careful What You Link To on: March 20, 2009 02:30:52 AM
I wanted to share this. I don't have my own business yet but I love looking at the online shops of fellow Craftsters. So far, I have made 3 purchases from Craftster members. Tonight I was looking at a project here and noticed that the person had links to their blog and their Etsy shop. Normally I'd just go to the shop but I decided to check out the blog first. The most recent post on this blog was very hateful and offensive. Besides being angered by the blog post, I thought that this was a very bad business practice. I'm not saying that she shouldn't have the blog (she is entitled to her opinions, even if they are mean  Tongue), but I don't think having them linked next to her Etsy shop is very wise. Just something people may want to think about when they are linking to their shops and blogs.

3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 35 ENTRIES / Healthy Reminder Magnets! on: February 05, 2009 08:55:30 PM
My resolution for this year is fairly open ended. I want to be healthier. I am a very forgetful person, so I thought it would be good to make myself some reminders. Here are two reminder magnets I made (I plan on making more):

I have diabetes and I am awful about taking my blood sugar. This magnet is made out of polymer clay with droplet shaped beads. I also included a lancet (for poking skin with to draw blood) and a test strip. FYI: Lancets melt in the oven.  Cheesy

I drink massive amounts of diet pop. This is a habit I really want to change. Instead, I would like to drink more water. Again, the magnet is made from polymer clay and droplet bead.

I hope you like my project! I've never submitted anything to a challenge before.  Grin
4  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Gone Batty Copycat on: November 26, 2008 03:05:38 AM
I forgot to post this! I made it for the 13 Days Of Halloween Swap. My partner had this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/28312086@N03/2693594663/in/pool-spookytimejingles/) on her Wist. So I made this:

The original is much better but I think mine isn't too bad. If I made it again I would use a square box for the bottom, instead of the round one. And I would have bought more raffia for the collar.
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Turkey Cheeseball question on: November 25, 2008 04:25:02 AM
We are having some friends over on Saturday for Thanksgiving. I want to make this cheese ball: http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Turkey-Cheese-Ball
My question is this: Do you think it would look dumb if I substituted the red pepper head/neck part for a card stock cutout? It just seems really wasteful to cut up a large red pepper and just use that little bit. I definitely won't be wasting a whole yellow squash just for the beak!

6  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Coffin Shrine! on: November 10, 2008 06:50:33 PM
I made this for the 13 Days Of Halloween Swap. I love it. It's my favorite thing I made for that swap.  Grin

Inside the coffin.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Spooky Spider Earrings and Halloween Hair Clips on: November 10, 2008 06:19:56 PM
I made these for the 13 Days Of Halloween Swap.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Black and Orange Mosaic Tray on: November 10, 2008 06:15:17 PM
Another item for the 13 Days Of Halloween Swap.

This was a joint project with my husband. He did the mosaic work.

9  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween Pillow Cases on: November 10, 2008 06:12:03 PM
These were for the 13 Days of Halloween Swap. They are 14 inch pillows. I am in love with this fabric.  Cheesy

I used this tutorial: http://sewing.about.com/od/freeprojects/ss/envelopepillow.htm
10  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Potion Bottles and Spell "Book"! on: November 09, 2008 07:53:42 PM
These were for the 13 Days Of Halloween Swap. The cauldron is store bought.

The bottles say: Worm's Wart, Spider Venom, Cat's Tounge (my cat happened to be annoying me when I was trying to think of labels! LOL), Bat Brains, Deadly Night Shade and Frog's Breath

To make the labels I used a parchment colored cardstock and printed them out on my inkjet printer. I tore the labels and then burned the edges. (FYI: be VERY careful if you try this. I came close to burning my fingers a few times!) Next I Modge Podged the labels to the bottles. It's a very easy craft.

The book is a paper mch box that I got at Michael's. I just painted it. The picture doesn't show it, but it looks like it has yellowed pages.
