21  Mother's Day Cake in Dessert by JadedJenn on: May 14, 2008 04:52:32 AM
I made this cake for my Mother-In-Law (and the rest of the family). She seemed to like it a lot. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. This is only my 2nd time decorating with fondant.

It's a chocolate cake (made from a mix) with buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant.

The frosting recipe is here: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Special-Buttercream-Frosting/Detail.aspx
The fondant tutorial is here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=238211.0

22  Lightsaber Cake in Dessert by JadedJenn on: May 04, 2008 07:53:50 PM
This is a belated birthday cake I made for a friend of mine. She loves Darth Maul. It's my first time making/using fondant and my first time making a cake from scratch!

Close up of the "handle":

I got the recipe for the cake here:http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/One-Bowl-Chocolate-Cake-III/Detail.aspx It's made using a 9"x13" pan. I simply cut it lengthwise.

Next came the frosting:http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Special-Buttercream-Frosting/Detail.aspx

My wonderful husband helped a lot with fondant. He rolled everything out, helped with the coloring, and kept me from getting discouraged when thing weren't going just right.  Grin

To make the fondant I used this wonderful tutorial by riverwatson: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=238211.0

My friend was so excited to try the cake that we forgot the candles! It was super yummy. We were all on a sugar high for the rest of the night.

Here is what Daniethanas sent me:

Besides the super cute emoticon coasters she also sent me a bunch of goodies. There is hot chocolate mix in cinnamon, raspberry, and carmel flavors; lemonade mix; a set of tumblers; and recipes for hot chocolate and pink lemonade. I'm feeling very spoiled right now.  Cheesy

The one sticking it's tongue out is my favorite. They are all so cute and creative!

Here is a teaser pic. Rhaegal the dragon is being sent to North Carolina tomorrow for the Little Visitor Swap. He wanted in on the picture.  Grin

Crash and Rhaegal have become quite good friends. Crash wants to go on a trip too!

Here is a picture of Rhaegal all ready to go (after I convinced Crash the box is too small for him!).

Naga is all packed and ready to go home!

Rhaegal is home from North Carolina!

He brought with him; A new hat for himself and a scarf for me, some very pretty seashells, a crocheted seashell (very awesome!), stickers, a tourist guide, a comic book by Dragonslair's favorite author/artist, a letterboxing stamp, some very cool travel fabric, and a sample of plarn (yarn made from a plastic bag!).

And of course he brought back a very lovely scrapbook!

Here is Rhaegal! I just got him today. He is very excited to go on a grand adventure!

Here he is with my cat, Crash. "Get out of our cave!"

My dog, Brady, thinks that Rhaegal is very tasty!

Clearly our other dog, Maggie, does not agree.

I got my package from MelancholyMiss today! Everything is awesome!

Here is a group shot of everything. There is a Blue Sun bag (for my dice!), a Jayne hat, and a really cool river necklace.

Here is a closer shot of the necklace:

Here is a picture of the inside of the bag. I LOVE this fabric!!!

Finally, an action shot. Don't I look cunning?

Sorry for all the pictures. My husband just got a new camera yesterday.  Grin

I love everything to bits. The hat is very warm and cozy. I plan on wearing it around tomorrow even though the temp. is supposed to be close to 60. LOL

Thanks so much MelancholyMiss! I've had a lot of fun doing this swap.

Here are some teasers:

I'm done with my big project. Hurray!

I decided today to change what I'm doing for my medium project. I just like having an excuse to go to the craft store.  Wink I plan of starting it tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get it done tomorrow too. I have my fingers crossed that I can send everything out at the beginning of next week.

29  Pink Pajama Pants in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by JadedJenn on: February 11, 2008 07:27:21 PM
I made these pajama pants last year. I took a class at JoAnn Fabric. They were made using Simplicity pattern #4889.

Here is a close up of the fabric. It's so cute.

I think they turned out really nice. I wish I had made them a size smaller though.
