571  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about creating own pattern on: November 07, 2007 06:01:20 AM
That is a very pretty purse. However, I don't know how to cross stitch. Heh. It's on my list of 'crafts I'd like to learn'. Thanks though!

Actually, looking into some embroidery, I have to ask: would that not leave something kinda icky looking on the back of the scarf? How could I cover that up? What about maybe a glove pocket on the back? I'm looking at making a scarf about 6 inches wide, so that would give me approximately two inches/letter. Any help would be appreciated, since I have to get this done in the next month! Heh. And that's on top of all my other things I need to crochet.

Hello all,

I am a beginner/intermediate crocheter (I can do most of the basic stitches, read a pattern, crochet in the round), and I want to make my cousin a scarf for christmas. The challenge here? I want to put his greek letters on it. I thought that the best/easiest way to do this would be to filet crochet, but looking at that I realized that this is mainly for thread and not good for things like scarves. So my question is; would I be better off doing the letters in thread and filet crochet them and appliqu them to the finished scarf? Or would it be better to just try to do the scarf in single crochet (how I intend to do it), and just attempt to switch colors to put in the letters?

Thanks in advance!
