1  Lilah ~ almost as light as a feather in Knitting: Completed Projects by Nannetta on: July 31, 2011 11:24:31 AM

My first real lace shawl   Smiley ~ knitted with hand-dyed merino lace yarn following knitty's instructions for "Lilah" in size L:
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEss11/KSPATTlilah.php

the shawl:

~ blocking was essential. and despite its transparency it is shielding a summer night's chill very nicely.

and some close-ups:

Happy knitting!

3  Rainbow Zebra Motley *picture overload!!!* in Knitting: Completed Projects by Nannetta on: April 09, 2011 06:51:24 AM
after completing my first motley, which was pretty much rainbow all over, i recently knitted another one. i'd call the colorway of this one "rainbow zebra": one skein of whitish yarn, one skein of dark grey to off-white, and one skein of rainbowy yarn.

i altered the pattern by starting out with 18 instead of 15 triangles. as a result i ran out of yarn and had to finish with leftovers, odds and ends. nevertheless i'm rather pleased with the result ... despite its size the shawl behaved rather nicely in front of the camera, so here comes an overload of pics of it ~ hope you enjoy, and happy knitting everyone!  Smiley

Thank you all, you are the sweetest! ~ i am well and happy happy happy my new fo made it to the march featured knits list  Smiley

~ btw, i *love* the idea of a knitted x-mas tree skirt!

... and i promise i'll try and get a better (daylight) action shot for you soon.

The shawl is very comfy! lucky me... i actually like to wear wool  Cheesy

in the meantime a brief spree into color theory:

... the "value" of the colors used... although i assembled the panels without this actual knowledge, i plan on making use a lot more of color theory in my knitting soon!

And *in the good spirit of wordwide craftiness* i'll always be happy to share the actual origin of my projects + useful info that i found out about myself Wink

5  <3 Technicolor Dreamcoat <3 ***more pics!*** in Knitting: Completed Projects by Nannetta on: February 27, 2011 04:05:50 AM
Okay, recently i discovered i'm not only addicted to very colorful knitting - i'm also addicted to knitting shawls. This particular one was on my list for a long time.

The pattern is from vogue knitting ~ the yarn is noro kureyon in three different colorways.
Since the five main sections all are knitted individually and joined in the final step it makes a perfect project to carry along!

Here is a closeup of one of the cable and joinings sections:

... and another one of the bobbled edging:

*** thank you for the lovely comments, gals!!! ***

Happy knitting everyone!

6  My new Motley in Knitting: Completed Projects by Nannetta on: January 16, 2011 10:09:50 AM

My first entrelac project and certainly one of my most colorful knitted fos ever! Knitting it was fun  Smiley ... so much that i used up most of the remaining yarn for a headband and gauntlets.

The pattern is here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEdf10/PATTmotley.php

I knit with 3 skeins of noro silk garden sock yarn in 3 different colorways ... 2 of the 3 are very bright the third has mostly purples, pink, dark blue, gold and brown.
The only alteration to the pattern i made was starting out with 15 instead of 16 triangles... unintentionally, but once i realized it i didn't have the nerve to frog. it is still big enough, i think:

With Motley i also learned what split-splicing is all about. verrrry useful! i hate to waste yarn anyway, so this is a perfect technique for me   Grin

Hope you enjoy! xx Nan
