cinnamon teal: that yarn is BEAUTIFUL! The cups are great too Smiley

I did another Ikea hack and forgot to post it here! The only full size image I have has a little title on it, hopefully that isn't a big issue if I'm just posting here.. I also have some in progress images on my blog. It was so much fun building something! I mean, I know it's Ikea.. But I still was sanding things down, painting, and drilling holes to make it work better! This was originally a Ikea Rast, we got two of them and then made them pretty Cheesy

I also FINALLY was able to create a repeating intestine textile pattern and silk screen it, which was still on my list from last year. I used it for the front pocket on this cosplay design I JUST finished (I drafted it from scratch and also created the ribcage graphic with butchers paper). A gold star if anyone knows what it is for Wink

Honestly, it felt damn good to make a costume piece. It has been a few months since I've been remotely motivated to sew anything for a costume, brain has just felt broken. You can probably see how excited I was once I put it on by my expression in the picture lol

I have been trying out some Ikea "Hacking" the last two months because we needed new furniture! This was my first project. Technically more of an upcycle than a hack I suppose Smiley I broke down a Beddinge futon we were getting rid of and created 6 floor cushions with removable covers. If they are stacked, they take the place of an Ottoman. I can also use them to kneel on when cutting out giant pieces of fabric! (<- chronically bruised knees are thanking me for that lol). I have some images of the work in progress here.

I just received my package from Applesin and she was so thoughtful! I can't believe she made so many items Cheesy My valentine and all the separate items which were wrapped in super cute paper and numbered in the order I should open them. She included some cute valentine foam glasses and a set of MLP valentines I can use!

I had said I'd love MLP themed Christmas ornaments for next year and she did not disappoint. She and her little ones collaborated on some snowflake ornaments, so cute!! And then she knitted TEN little stockings in all the ponies colors! I LOVE THEM!!

Everything is so cute, thank you so much Applesin Smiley

smashu: I have a couple vinyl toys sitting around, but I'm having trouble thinking of ideas for them. What did you use to create yours?
I used something to prime the base of the toy so the paint would stick, an acrylic medium that I can't remember the exact name of at them moment. Then acrylic paint for the base and hair, black sharpies to draw on the details.

Thank you carolmb and ehinders:)

always, I love the socks and bowls! I have not tried knitting yet, socks look impossible lol

I made a purse for a really cool fundraiser spearheaded by an amazing 4-year-old to raise money for the endangered Asian elephants! Her mom is on C-ster and I'm sure many of you know her! Smiley

I received from dessadoll! She made a hoop for  my oh and an awesome tentacle necklace! The felt pieces actually glow in the dark on the hoop just like the actual light it was designed to look like! Hehe  :-) thank you!

First project of 2013!  Fabric draft stopper. This was entirely made and stuffed with upcycled fabric and scraps Smiley Thank goodness! This new place is pretty drafty. I think I need to make some for the windows too if it is something that can be done (we've got interior window shutters).

I adore all of your ornaments!  The skate ones and the polar bears are my favorite!

PM me with your final number to be entered in the challenge for Dec 2012!!!
I will! I'm almost done catching up Wink lol Thanks for the sweet words (and for being awesome running this thread!)

rottenlittleboys: Thank you! I screened it on both sides and was worried the white would be too transparent but it worked out perfectly Smiley

My last batch of projects for the year:
102,103,104,105,106)-5x felt Adventure Time ornaments (I even used some of the new embroidery stitches I've been learning!)
107)-Peppermint Butler loom beaded ornament (I'm not super happy with how this turned out as I had no beading needles left and had to use all the inconsistent oversized beads in my stash lol)

-I had an awesome opportunity to collaborate with Mattel on a cosplay for one of their MH characters, they actually sponsored the project. Not going to go in depth here but here are the pieces I made!
108)-corset, including digitally illustrated and silk screened textile print
109)-skirt, including butcher's paper/silk screened textile print
109)-beret with pin
110)-sculpted ears
111)-wig with contrast highlights added in
112)-tights with stripes painted on
113)-shoes (these were originally black mary janes!)
114)-wings

Wahoo! Final count is...114!

10  My Little Pony Christmas Stockings! in Winter Holidays by smashu on: January 03, 2013 04:09:38 PM
This Christmas I was inspired to design some new stockings for two of my friends that are hardcore My Little Pony fans. I personally love the show as well and the characters on the reboot My Little Pony Friendship is Magic translate well to my stocking design style. I present you with Applejack and Fluttershy!
