1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Craft for my cubicle swap? on: January 14, 2013 12:19:02 PM
Recently I have taken my first full time job where I spend 40+ hours a week in my little grey cubicle, and it's a little depressing. I've noticed a lot of people around the office have plants, artwork, motivational cards, and other little things to remind them of life outside of the office. I thought that it may be a fun idea to start a swap to craft for a partners work space. I was thinking things like artwork, nicknacks, gardlands.. And it wouldn't be limited to just decorative items, but organizational and functional as well.. organization for small office supplies, stationary, decorated pens..

The swap would probably be 4 points, either two mediums, or one medium and two smalls (your choice) since I know space is usually limited.

Would anyone be interested in participating? Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Tiki Time on: July 21, 2010 09:37:28 AM
I used a tutorial from DancinInTheDark to make the glass jar silhouette lamps. I completed my first project, a tiki themed lamp, and I plan on making a set of 4, with different tikis in different colors. Now I just need to start eating more food that comes in glass jars!

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Spiderweb drink coasters on: June 30, 2010 12:51:03 PM
I made these felt coasters for a friends website, doomestic.com. they turned out pretty well i think. being super anal about everything i was kind of miffed when i realized that some of the spiderwebs were really compact, and others were spaced out, but then i realized.. when have i ever seen four perfect, matching spiderwebs? They were easy to make, just felt and fabric paint.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / First Clothing Project on: September 29, 2009 08:35:28 PM
So I lost my job recently and decided that I should finally learn how to use my sewing machine. I figured that boxers would be pretty easy and make a cute gift for hubby. I used Simplicity 9958 and was really thrilled with the results.

originally they were only supposed to be the orange owl fabric but of course I bought the last of what they had and while cutting my fabric forgot to flip the pattern, ending up with two of one side. So after two trips to different craft stores I settled on just plain black for the other side. Still Halloweenish.. right? Other than that little oversight, the rest of it went pretty smoothly.

Action Shot!

I do have one question though. They seem pretty bulky and I don't think they would fit very comfortably under jeans. Is this because of the fabric I used? If so, will they be a little less stiff and bulky once they go through the wash a few times? I used 100% cotton and am hoping that over time they'll be a little more comfy.

Anyways, I am really happy with them and looking forward to using the pattern again!
