1  my first 2 quilts!! finally posting - 7 pics in Quilting: Completed Projects by lilaboo4 on: January 28, 2009 09:24:02 PM
these are my first two quilts. my cousins 2 daughters *i babysit them, theyre my "borrowed" kids* have a combined birthday party early oct. and i really wanted to make them quilts... i finished them in october, finally got pictures of them earlier this month, and FINALLY posting something now... yeah i know, i have to work on my follow-through...

since natalie (2) is the "wild one" i thought the mishmash of colors would suit her. light pink sashing, and a light blue flowers on white for binding. my very first binding!!!!! *my lqs owner/bff's mom taught me and praised me on my corners. Smiley* the blocks didnt match up as well as i would have hoped, but hey it was my first! i tried to camouflage it by only stitching in the ditch around each 4 strip block.

love the backing fabric! and its a really good match for the colors on the front. Smiley

and the action shot... nat insisted josh *my hubby* be covered too. she has him wrapped around her lil pinky lol *josh was really tired and zombie-esque from work and made me crop him out.. vain!*

Hayden (5) is the girly girl. i had to get the pink on white floral, and found the 2 pink calicos to match. its sashed in plain white cotton and bound in the light pink. fabric shot, as the ones of the quilt are off in color...

quilted with straight lines across, lining up with each block and backed with a pink and white offset grid/argyle(?) flannel. had to add a patch of the pink fabric to make the backing big enough... EVENTUALLY ill applique her initials to it.. maybe.

didnt get a picture of the back but this is an action shot.. she was making a tent and got distracted by spongebob... *the dark pink patch in the back was ALMOST centered.. eh shes 5, she wont care.)

and hayden being a ham for the camera. she told me shell "be my model" <3 love her!

at first my cousins husband put them away bc he didnt want them to ruin them *i was flattered!* but let him know theyre suppoed to be used, and now im proud to say theyre well loved!

comments? criticism? praise and advice is always welcome lol

2  Pet Halloween Costume - Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by lilaboo4 on: October 31, 2008 08:41:08 AM
im one of those ppl who LOVES halloween and dressing up.. and being a crafty person, i refuse to buy a flimsy ill-fitting costume and make it myself... Smiley

i have other costumes to finish (of course i procrastinate!) but i couldnt resist torturing the dog (he likes wearing hoodies and the like, i swear. he gets cold fast, bc hes a mini poodle.. trust me he needs a jacket during a nj winter)

its a thin white waffle weave (reminds me of a baby blanket.. and my dog LOVES blankets) with a red fleece covered button for a nose and ears on his hood.. one button at the chest, and a small band across the belly.

took about an hour and im really happy with it. but i think my dog looks pretty darn cute in anything lol Smiley

4  Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along in Craftalongs by lilaboo4 on: May 10, 2008 03:39:01 PM
im only on page 250-something but..

im loving all the poppets ive seen so far!!!! u guys have done such a good job!! its given me so much inspiration and at first i didnt think mine would even come close to everyone elses!

im still working on my first one, (10 more planned in my head from looking at everyone elses and their suggestions) its a gift for my mom for mothers day.. getting down to the wire but when im poppet-ing, im in my own little world.. i love love love this pattern ghilie.. ur a genius! thank u sooooooo much for sharing it!!!

i came up from my "craft lab" sewing corner in the basement and was stuffing it in the living room while the mr played xbox so we could at least get in some quality time.. and in my rush to chat about our day, i completely forgot eyeballs and ears...

and this just shows the color im going to use for the hair (i LOVE cotton yarn) its only tied in the middle of the strands and plopped on.. but im sure ill torture myself trying to get it perfect... its for my mom after all!!!

i have a really cute yellow floral fabric (i love the remnants bin at joanns!!) that im making a dress out of.. havent started it yet, but its really pretty in my head!

my hubby checks over my shoulder as im crafting and gives all sorts of encouragement.. its cute. Smiley but now that he has the new grand theft auto game, i see him a little less lol.. but it gives me guilt free sewing time Smiley
