I love those colors!  Your yarn looks so even and yummy to work with...did you make something with it already? Cheesy

I did knit a hat, but didn't like how it turned out. Partially because I found out that those colors really don't belong next to my face. It's currently sitting in the charity pile.

NEWT Progress

I cast on for my first pair of socks on Wednesday night, and I'm now on row 16!

Here's the yarn that I'll be using for my second pair of socks. It's a bit more green/less blue than the picture shows.

I finished another pair of socks this weekend! They've already been worn. Smiley

OWL Subject & Option (if available): History of Magic, option 3
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: SPEW Squares for Pine Ridge Reservation
Brief Description: I was inspired by our lovely Headmistress pinkleo in my choice of OWL. There is a group over on Ravelry that collects squares to seam together into blankets for Pine Ridge Reservation. It's super cold there, and they need lots of love. I used the vintage technique and pattern of crocheting granny squares. Half of the squares are traditional squares, and half of the squares were more solid squares. I created 84 (6") squares total. My muggle mother learned of what I was doing, and decided to contribute as well. As she is a muggle, she can't use the Gemino charm to produce as many squares, but she did a great job with her non-magical wand and added 24 squares! Our combined total (which will be mailed out tomorrow at lunch) is 108 squares!
Don't mind the unwoven ends. As our Headmistress knows, the crafty witch who puts the blankets together prefers to cast the charm to weave in ends herself, so she is confident the charm has been cast correctly.

My mom's squares! (not to be considered as an official part of my OWL - I'm just showing off for her because she's awesome, but not on Craftster)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: March Detention
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Hermione's Everyday Socks
Brief Description: I started these socks in the beginning of February and was really hoping to finish them before the end of the Winter Semester. Alas, it took me until the 3rd to finish the second sock. These were knit with lovely SweetGeorgia Tough Love sock yarn.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Horcrux Hunt - Slytherin's Locket
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Flower Cupcakes
Brief Description: These cupcakes were inspired by Mr. Ronald Wealsey, the bottomless pit. He absolutely loves to eat, so I'm sure that I could use these cupcakes to motivate him to help me destroy Slytherin's locket!

I've finished my OWL, so here are the last squares that you guys haven't seen.

I told my mom what I was working on, and she did some stashbusting too. She gave me 24 squares to send! Between the two of us, we sent (well, I'll be off to the PO tomorrow at lunch) 108 squares!

7  Re: Experimenting in the Kitchen Along in Craftalongs by indigo_roses on: March 04, 2013 03:32:06 PM
This weekend I used fondant for the first time to decorate cupcakes for my friend's bachelorette party. I bought a box of Wilton's pre-mixed at the store, as I didn't have too much time to finish them. I enjoyed doing it, and still have about 3/4 of the package left! Now I need to find something else to bake and decorate, along with someone else to eat it for me. Roll Eyes

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Flying+SPEW
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Spring Flower Hat
Brief Description: This hat is so bright, you will definitely be seen while wearing it! It will be donated to charity because a) it's too small and b) those colors don't belong next to my face Tongue
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch
House:Ravenclaw
Project Name: David's Mittens
Brief Description: I originally made these mittens for my friend David for Christmas (well, one was done for Christmas...), but the thumbs didn't fit right. Nor did they fit right the second time. Third time was the charm though, and now these mittens are gone! He's a muggle do he doesn't know this, but he'll be showing my his support for Ravenclaw's Quidditch team whenever he wears them!

I have some projects that I've added to my list as complete, but haven't gotten around to uploading photos yet...

12 squares (#25-36) for Pine Ridge Reservation

12 squares (#37-48) for Pine Ridge Reservation

Mittens for my friend for Christmas (had to redo the thumbs 3 times, but they finally fit right!)

A hat knit out of yarn that I spun. Unfortunately it is a) a little small for me and b) apparently those colors are not meant to be worn near my face, so it will be thrown in the charity pile. But it's the first thing I've knit using yarn that I spun!
