I love the WV tattoo!  I was scrolling down the page and was really suprised when I saw it.  As a fellow mountaineer, I have to applaude your chutzpah.
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Crafty But Stupid: YOUR CRAFT RELATED INJURIES HERE! on: July 19, 2006 09:58:35 AM
My housemates and I went to the movies on Sunday, and didn't get out until about eight pm.  Now, it was my night to cook, so I decided to make french dip, which is easy to do and very very fast.  The recipe calls for two cans of beef consomme.  The cans have those handy little pull-tab lids so you don't have to mess about with the can opener.  I went to open the first can with a firm pull on the tab, and the lid came off in a clean, very sharp circle of metal...  and somehow made it straight into the base of my pinky finger.

That hurts, incidentally.  It hurts a lot.  And it cuts a lot deeper than you'd think.  And it bleeds a lot.  I could tap the bandage fifteen minutes after I did it and see the blood squishing out the sides.  So I switched to gauze until the bleeding stopped.

I have a big scar on my pinky from the same kind of lid.  It was from a cat food can.  They are dangerous!

My husband has done that with the cat food cans TWICE.  I had to switch to the pouches for his safety.  Roll Eyes

I love the embroidery -- It's amazing.  What did you use to transfer the pattern onto the bag so that you could embroider it?

Kaylee: Looks sorta angry, don't he?
Wash: That's kinda what I meant.

As I've said before, I am soooooooooo bummed that I missed this swap since I had so much fun with the first one.   Cry   I am in absolute awe of the Jayne statue.  I actually said "Oh MY GOD" so loud that the guy across the hall came to see what I was squeeling about.   And the little Wash and Wash shirt are soooo cool.  That's one of my favorite Wash quotes too!!
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: What to do with a shirt I can't wear anymore?? on: June 22, 2006 01:50:24 PM
That turned out really well!  I did something similar with a tshirt for my younger sister.  She was a state champion barrel racer during her senior year of high school, and as the champ, not only did she win a nice belt buckle, but she also qualified for the World Championships.  The souvenier tshirt that she brought me from worlds was never worn, but I didn't want to throw it away.  The shirt listed all 1278 competitors (she finished 128th out of 1278 btw) So, I found her name, highlighted it, and turned it into a pillow.  I even added fringe around the edges to make it look a little more 'professional'  She really liked it, but my mom loved it.  So now the pillow is a permanent fixture in Mom's living room.  Roll Eyes
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: wedding present for camping lovers . . . PIC HEAVY on: June 08, 2006 05:39:57 AM
I love it.  The daughter of a family friend was getting married, and planned a camping honeymoon.  As a suprise, her brother bought them a new tent as a wedding gift, and when they cam hame after the rehearsal, they found it in their living room.  The tent was so large and the apartment so tiny, they could barely get the front door open.   Grin
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Sewing Chiffon for a veil..... eeek on: June 08, 2006 05:35:10 AM
Thanks for all the tips.  I have only one thing to say "I AM NEVER SEWING WITH CHIFFON AGAIN" Angry

But, the veil is done, and for the most part, it turned out the way that I wanted it to.  (after I got the @#$&% material cut straight, that is.)  I used a combination of the stitch, iron, hem, fold, stitch, iron combo.  I also used a little matching ribbon on the bottom to make the hem look extra neat (and give it a little weight).  I was fairly pleased, and I tend to be hyper critical, so that was good.  The bride and the mother of the bride loved it, but they are so nuts right now that I could have handed her an old hankie and a barette and they'd have said 'Great!  Thanks!!'  Cheesy
