21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: how did u learn to knit? on: November 09, 2005 09:48:58 AM
Eons ago while home on winter break from college I woke up one morning and told my mother I wanted to learn how to knit.  I picked up a .99 cent booklet on how to knit purchased a few skeins of red heart yarn which by chance had a knifty pattern for a sweater on the label.  I cast on and started knitting my first sweater.  When I returned to campus I finished the back, one sleeve and 1/2 of the front before I lost it all in my apartment fire.  I didn't touch knitting again for years, I was crushed!  Needless to say I am freaked out about knitting another sweater, we have all heard of the boyfriend sweater curse, hopefully I have not been stricken with the house fire sweater curse.  Just going to stick with knitting bags and accessories for now. Smiley

WOW!  I really like this pattern when IK came out but I didn't see it as a practical sweater to knit.  Seeing your version is truly inspiring, great work!

The Denise Interchangeables have been the best purchase I have made in relation to knitting gear.  I don't know what I would do without them!

Seaming is always a project killer!  The monkey looks great, got a name for him?
