1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Squirrel Tail materials - need advice on: February 21, 2012 08:54:49 AM
I am in the process of creating a squirrel costume for an upcoming 8k.  Trying to figure out a way to secure a squirrel tail to my waist and then again at the shoulders.  I am using a faux fur material with a 3.5 long hair.

For the waist I am thinking about using parachute buckles and strapping to create an adjustable belt to strap the base of the tail around the waist/hip region.  It needs to be adjustable so it can be tweaked as the race goes on.  Things tend to shift when you are running down the road.  Any other ides on what to use here?

Next I need to secure the tail in an upright position along my back.  I found some adjustable clear bra straps on clearance and thought these could be attached higher up on the tail and worn over the shoulders to give the tail lift.  Does anyone have experience with the transparent straps?  Is tearing a possibility with the plastic material?  Again think of bouncing along for 8k.

I plan on making the tail as light weight as possible but will need to use batting to give it a dimensional look.  Any ideas for this one?

I am open to any and all suggestions!
