21  Crochet Christmas Tree "Scarf" Garland in Winter Holidays by starfishsea on: December 05, 2008 09:39:23 AM
I got the bright idea of making a scarf garland for my treenot realizing how long it would take haha.

It wouldent of been to bad if I had started it in November so I didint have to spend three straight days trying to get it done so I could put it on my tree.

If I had to do it again, I would use a smaller hook/less fluffy yarn for the trim Smiley I do plan on gluing beads on some color panels, but Ill do any embellishing after Christmas, I just wanted to get this puppy up!

I do love it though, it makes the tree look cozy!

The pictures seem kinda small, but I do have bigger ones on my Flickr  Grin

22  Re: Christmas Ornament Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by starfishsea on: November 26, 2008 01:43:56 PM
Woohoo I received my package from ehinders!! It was super fast too sheesh lol.

I LOVE it!

Sorry for the not so good picture, it was really dark and rainy today. I got an awesome red ornament that is embellished with winter themed buttons and sayings (I especially love the snowflake buttons!) and a really cool Christmas box with some pretty ribbon around the sides of it.

Even though it's a Christmas box, I'm going to use it to hold all of my bracelets lol.

Thanks ehinders, I love it all  Grin

23  Handmade Christmas Trees in Winter Holidays by starfishsea on: November 21, 2008 01:11:15 PM
I've been meaning to make these for *years*, but I just always got caught up in Christmas gift making that I never had much time for decorations. Since I have PLENTY of time on my hands these days, I decided to just sit down and do them.

They were super fast, maybe a half hour each..tops. I think some other colors might be fun, like a white tree with aqua and magenta accents. They are also pretty cheap to make so I definately could make more.

This white one might look kind of sparse as far as decor goes, but the yarn is just so soft and fuzzy with a hint of sheen...that it really didin't need much added decoration.

EDIT: The pictures must be a little to large since they look a little distorted here, but I have nicer versions on Flickr Smiley

The green one is probably my favorite, I might even make another one just because it looks so Christmasy to me Smiley

See that glittery Noel decoration? I just bought that for $2.50 in the $1 (haha yeah doesen't make sense) section at Target! I love all things glittery. That would also be super easy to replicate with wooden letters from Michaels.

24  Re: I need new ideas!--please post your homemade ornaments in Winter Holidays by starfishsea on: November 20, 2008 12:35:02 PM
Here is the crochet retro christmas ornament from roxycraft.com:

For this ornament I just took a regular red bulb and glued white fun fur to the top. The face is just a rub on transfer from Michaels Smiley

This is just a little embroidery on glittery felt.

25  Reto Christmas Ornament and Ami Turkey in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by starfishsea on: November 19, 2008 01:12:03 PM
This was a super easy pattern, and took me about 3 hours (that includes lunch and email checks Tongue).

I did get a little confused on the wing pattern, but it all worked out. Pattern fromhttp://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com

The retro Christmas ornament pattern is from http://www.roxycraft.com and was made for a Christmas ornament swap I was just in. I used Patons Brilliant in the silver sparkly color (they were out of red bah) and Caron Simply Soft in a cranberry color. The red definately looks better in person....it has a nice sheen and is more cranberry then red.

The one problem I did have though was I coulden't find my F hook at the time and had to use G, which the Patons yarn was to small for so you can see a bit of stuffing showing. Ah well, at least they are almost the same color Smiley

Here is mine! After I took the picture I realized you can still see a string wrapped around the legs, so I tucked it in  Grin
