I wanted to paint a portrait for my boyfriend as a present. We had just recently gone to an art gallery and he found some really cool paintings he liked that looked like graffiti. So I decided to do it in that style.
I made a stencil in Photoshop out of a picture I had of him. Placed it in Illustrator, made it a vector image and tweaked some of the points, printed it out on Valeron Strength Polyolefin Film (it's like vinyl), cut it out and spray painted it on the canvas. For the background I used light blue spray paint and silver acrylic paint. I mixed it all up on a paper plate and used a foam brush to brush it on. It's not perfect, but I like it.
In the left corner is his name, Julian. The style of the lettering is an ambigram. That means it's a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation.
