1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Child pillow costume - super easy, but fun! on: October 30, 2007 12:08:03 AM
Want to see a super easy costume???  1 yard of fun fabric.  I wasn't in the mood (or had time for) anything complicated this year.

I found the eyelash fabric on clearance & that was also on sale for 50% off...$2.50 total for 1 yd.  Probably on cl. due to the horizontal lines going thru it.  Really shows up in the photo, but not as much in person.

If I can get my DD to let me take a pix of her wearing it...I will post another shot.

She originally wanted to stuff her costume with plastic bags, but I couldn't think of an easy way to keep them in while making the costume easy to wear & not hot & scratchy.  So...I attached batting to the inside on both sides.  Having a body inside will fill it out more.

I plan on converting this into a real pillow after we're done with the costume.  Smiley

Any suggestions for a hat or head covering?

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Doritos tote bag on: October 28, 2007 11:03:48 PM
Here's my first attempt at "reassigning" a use for trash.  I was inspired by the Ramen zippered pouch that was posted.  I'll be trying that one too.   Wink

This is just a basic, no frills, tote bag.  Lining is just white muslin.

I bought a vinyl tablecloth protector at Big Lots for $3 just so I could do some of these bags.  this was my tester bag.  Besides part of the one sewn side ripping (Chip bag part) when I went to invert it (had to flatten it out again & tape it with clear packing tape before reinverting it), things went pretty smoothly.

Doritos anyone???

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Jeans - Japanese Folded Patchwork Bag on: October 25, 2007 01:26:56 AM
I used these instructions to make the following bag out of recycled jeans & fabrics that friends sent me when I asked for things that represented America.

I did manage to complete it in a day.

I thought about adding a Levi's pocket, but haven't decided...

It could be made reversible if I added some trim at the top of this side, but I think some of the pieces are a bit dirty, so I'll keep the print side out.

Had to add a pix of my kitten going crazy with it.   Grin
