4  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Dying fabric on: December 29, 2009 10:54:06 AM
I'm sorry if this doesn't fit here but this was the closest thing i could think of. I recently purchased a scarf at a local craft store and I would like it to match my new shoes. I am buying some fabric dye later and I wanted to know if there were any tricks or secrets. I know with tye dye you let your shirts soak in a solution for a while but I'm unsure of regular fabric dye. Please help I'll post pictures to go along later.

THANKS!
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Babysitters teaching tool on: July 31, 2009 12:02:40 PM
So as a babysitter I get asked a lot of questions from the wee one I watch during the week. Things like what time is it? When is mommy picking me up and can we have lunch yet? Let me remind you she is only 3 and full of these questions so when ever I can i try to get her to answer her own questions with teaching tools. I was recently watching Miss Spider's Sunny Patch with her and they made a sun dial out of webs and pictures to show the little buggy's how to tell time. I thought I can do that. So I took an old clock printed off pictures of normal day activites and placed them in the hour slot where they normally occured. I also removed the Minute hand, since she is only three and this would only confuse her. I then placed a frame filled with circles around the outside of all the pictures and vuala.

this shows when she gets dropped off with me (Car), lunch time (Lunch Pail), nap time (Kitty and Puppy sleeping)

Nap time cont., When momma picks her up (Mommy holding Katherine), and this was made during her nap time the only time I have to really do anything lol.

Play time (Kids in the grass), Dinner time (Dinner plate), Bed Time (Winnie the pooh)

Then there's waking up (Sun), Breakfast (Bagels), and another Play time.

I can't wait to see it in action since she's still getting used to me asking her what time it is insted of the other way around. Thanks for looking.

7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Themed parties! on: April 04, 2009 10:14:54 AM
Hi all I am in need of some ideas! Desperate need! I am on the monthly birthday party planning comity at my Vet's office. We normally let the birthday boys and girls  Cheesy vote on what theme they would like the party to be. We have had Mexican food, green food, and this month's vote was Easter or pastel colored food. Now all I need is a recipe or idea for this theme. Now the only thing is I would like it  to be sugar free because one of the birthday girls is a diabetic. If any of you could help I would be forever grateful!
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sister's hat! Picture heavy!!! on: March 07, 2009 05:26:34 PM
So my sister came to me with a blank black hat that she apparently stole from a ex-love interest and asked me to put a skull and cross bones with a bow on it. I did and then I continued doodling until this was the outcome. oh and the white lines from my gel pen haven't washed off yet so please disregard them!

The bird is my favzies!!!

Her skull that started it all

I also love that tree!

Some of the items are glow and the dark! I got ahold of some glow in the dark thread and I just got overly excited!! The glow in the dark items include the skull, the striped flag, the head phones, music notes, flowers, planet and stars, and the card symbols. But she wears it all the time now so I'm pretty sure she's pleased.

Thanks For looking!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Slouchy knit hat (PICS) on: February 09, 2009 07:44:09 AM
First ever without a pattern I am really proud of it even if it doesn't look perfect on me! I did a lace pattern all around the top and the brim was knit 1 round purl the next for 7 rounds. I don't know the amount of sts I used but it fits great for the look I wanted.

Note all these pictures were taken for this but they all scream Myspace poser lol!
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Chicken coop ideas and help on: January 09, 2009 11:09:05 AM
Hey chickens can be pets too and in fact they will be my first pet that actually contributes back to the household. Grin So here is the deal I am currently trying to build a coop I am trying to acquire an old shed so I can limit the amount of construction I will actually have to be involved in. But at this point I am still looking. I was wondering if anyone could help me with ideas on how to do this "cheep"ly (I'm aware that was rather dorky) and perhaps with a nice homey touch. I'm also considering making it mobile since I will be moving soon and they will need to come with me. We also have some time since we have just begun incubating the eggs. I appreciate anything you guys can help me with!!
