I liked the idea of opposites and tried to incorporate as many as I could in this project.
I decided to do a reversible snow white/evil queen costume.  Snow white has short puffy sleeves/ queen has long skinny chiffon sleeves (these tuck up inside the puffy sleeve when SW is worn).  SW has dropped waist and is knee length whereas the EQ is high waisted and full length (this is held up with hooks and eyes under SW and helps the skirt puff).   So here is snow white:

I started with 2 separate patterns and tried to sort of meld them so they would fit inside each other

the biggest headache was sewing the invisible zip to 2 dresses and figuring out how to make the collar stand up (my sewing light died early on so I had to gerry rig a desk lamp, lol)

I made this jacket out of a few jeans and skirts I picked up cheap and basically ripped them into strips.  Then sewed them to some black cotton cut to the shape of the jacket.   I was originally going to do the sleeves the same but it took so long that I didn't in the end.  It turned out well and I even managed to keep the front pockets.

a friend of mine is going to a costume party in a few weeks and was trying to decide what to wear. I told
her she should let me make her a pom pom and pipe cleaner dress and she bravely agreed.  I glued all the pom poms
on and sewed the pipe cleaners on breaking a few needles in the process.  She is pleased with how it turned out but
said it needed some accessories so I made a bag and a wrist corsage.  It was a fun project, hope you like it.

What a great idea for a challenge!  I just wish I'd seen it earlier so I'd had time to do more.
 
Anyway, I found this great saffron coloured double sheet at the Salvation army store and had just the pattern to use it with.  I changed it ever so slightly by making the bodice darts into pintucks and added a matching fabric for the collar and sleeve ties and covered buttons, (which were sooo fiddly)

I get so engrossed in the making that I forget to take in progress photos but here is the finished result.  I am pleased with how it turned out.

This is the first time I have entered a challenge and it has been so much fun, time consuming but fun.
My husband and sons think I am nuts and being non-crafty males have no understanding of why I would want to spend hours playing with buttons.  I guess that's their loss!
 I spent about a week thinking about what to decorate usually during breakfast and that was what I did in the end, decorate breakfast.
 I made the felt food a while ago so I sewed the buttons on those.  I painted a few buttons for better contrast on the toaster, (which was off limits for a few days), and made some out of Fimo when I ran out of blue buttons for the mug. 
 
So here is my bountiful button breakfast...

Every year I try and make something for my husband for our anniversary.  Either from the traditional or contemporary list.  This year (5th) both lists said wood.  Eek!
I have cut the odd bit of wood but have never attempted furniture or anything till now.
We were given quite a few cut lengths of Kwila a while back and they have such a lovely colour I knew I wanted to use it.  It took me a couple of weeks and I managed to drill my hand once, (it's a hardwood and I kept breaking drill bits), but I am really happy with how it turned out and I think I surprised the hell out of hubby!

I am new to felting and I haven't quite got it right yet.   I made this flower picture
which is almost felted.  I rolled for ages and used plenty of hot water etc but it doesn't seem to stick together like the book says, some areas can be lifted.  Not enough soap perhaps? 
Is it possible to re-felt something?  Or can it not be altered once you have rinsed it out?  Thanks in advance

I was recently given some scraps of felt and thought they were too small to do anything with till a friend suggested making a cuff.  I used m-o-p buttons and felt circles to decorate



I liked it so much I decided to make another cuff.  This time I sewed beads on a satin ribbon.



I am really pleased with how they turned out.
