thank you, I only attempted this because the technique was in a recent threads magazine and I could follow it step by step.  And yes there was lint everywhere after!

Here is my entry.

 It has a velvet bodice with mesh strip insertions and satin skirt with a thigh high split.  Here is the back

I started with this pattern

but had to alter the neckline as it wasn't sitting right so I changed it to a halter neck with bias binding ties.
I am pretty happy with how it turned out but it will be a while before I do anything with velvet again as it moves so much,

thanks, now that it's winter over here I have put it away as I don't think it will stand up to too much serious foot wiping.  It was fine over summer and only required occasional hosing down.
