14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Fairy tales, Folklore & Fairies gallery of gorgeousness! on: March 24, 2008 11:49:57 AM
Here you go, post your pics here!
15  KNITTING / Knitalongs / cabled yoke cardi - ravelry kal! my favourite pattern ever ! (so far....) on: March 21, 2008 11:41:37 AM
this:

is my attempt for a kal in my very favourite ravelry group

am using sirdar eco wool in slate grey, and absolutely lovel it (dries my hands out terribly but its lovely lovely wool)

have the fronts, back, one sleeve finished, am onto the yoke (heavy cables, short rows & wraps, ohhhh ek):

highly recommended, both the pattern booklet & the wool

16  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / my first silk painting - & its huuuuuuge! on: February 17, 2008 08:32:04 AM
dug this out of a drawer a little while ago, & thought i would pop it on here

did this about 2 or 3 years ago, my first try at silk painting (i tend not to do things by halves), full of mistakes but i like it! about a metre square, maybe a bit more... actually now i look at it, its about a metre & a half square...

this is the whole thing warts & all...
17  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Fairytales, Fairies & Folklore swap, sign ups 16th Feb-8th March, send 12th April on: February 16, 2008 03:26:55 AM
Lots of interest in this, so time to get it going!

I thought a bit of a mix is called for, hence opening it up to fairy tales, old & new, folklore & those little fae folk themselves - so pretty much anything with a fairy theme goes.

Swap name: Fairytales, Fairies & Folklore swap
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: sulkycat
Sign-up date range: 16th February - 8th March
Date to send item by: 12th April ( I know quite a few people are a bit bogged down with swaps at the moment so this should give plenty of time)

Limited to a certain number of people? no, welcome one & all

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO

All ages allowed - yes

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES (as in yes I am not!)
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month:
- Has posted at least 15 times:
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time:
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps:
- Does not have any negative feedback:

Details of swap: how about what seems to work in most swaps - one large, 2 medium, 3 small - & I think we all pretty much know how much effort goes into our work, so 'large' of course doesn't have to be something physically large, it's the time spent on it.

After all, a tiny intricately beaded or detailed piece could take hours & hours of work... use your judgement people, and if in doubt please shout out!

Paintings, ATCs, sewing, knitting, beading, felting, I think theres enough scope with this theme to cover pretty much anything! (if anyone wants to send me fairycakes.....yummy)

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?

Anything you would love to receive?
Anything you would not want entering your doors!?

Colour preferences - & colours you hate?

Any allergies / special requests? (eg vegan, non smoking household etc)

Any other information / requests?  also feel free to include details of favourite fairy tales etc here! the more info the better - do you love the original, dark tales? or the lighter, more twinkly aspect of fairy? do you have a favourite fairy tale or fairy painting / artist? how about hobgoblins, brownies (no, not the chocolate sort), sirens etc? toadstools & acorn houses?

Please please contact me with any questions, both now & during the swap, it's a lovely theme & I want everyone to enjoy it! Post often, let's make this a really chatty thread.

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

i know theres an octopus / long tentacly type swap, but how about a by the coast swap?

its certainly the place i head for when under stress, & the place i want to end up when i am a little pensioner!

huge amount of scope for ideas - driftwood, mermaids, sea creatures, rock pools, beach huts , childhood holidays, ice cream....

any interest? (i now need to go to the coast for the day before the end of half term hols, suspect it will be full of wrapped up stressed teachers with the same idea!)
20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / old oak dresser - NOW i love you! on: February 10, 2008 08:36:12 AM
a very very battered ebay win last year... complete with all my clutter

and after a day of sanding & repainting - i usually prefer real wood as it is, but my rooms tiny & this dresser is big! too overpowering - & a good incentive to tidy up!
