2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Pink & White Wings on: November 09, 2008 05:35:37 PM
I decided to be an angel for Halloween, and I wanted to make my own wings since I couldn't find any that I liked. I followed a lot of different tutorials, and I guess it turned out okay! There were some things that I weren't happy with but it didn't really matter on Halloween Smiley

they had a nice little curve to them Cheesy

i made a black pair too that I think I actually liked better, but those are with my boyfriend right now. I'll try and get a photo later Smiley
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Hello Kitty Themed Rag Quilt on: November 09, 2008 03:52:45 PM
I've never quilted before, and I don't really remember why I suddenly decided to try a rag quilt. But try I did, and after long hours of cutting, stuffing, and sewing, I have a cute (if not-so-perfect) cozy quilt for my dorm room.

I used lots of different fabrics, some that I had lying around and some I bought to go with those. The cute Hello Kitty flannel is what I wanted the quilt to be based on, because it's so adorable and I love the soft colors!

The fabrics I chose didn't rag very well, but I guess the cut edges look okay. I also had trouble matching up my rows so it's crooked ^^; But I still love it! The back is just a really soft pink fabric. It's the perfect size for my dorm bed <3

sorry for all the cords and blurriness! I'll try and get a better one later.

Thanks for looking! I don't know if I'll make more quilts since it was such a long process, but I definitely love this one Cheesy
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Happy Berry Comforter & Pillow on: November 09, 2008 03:43:54 PM
As I was shopping for dorm room essentials back in August, I realized that I was definitely not going to be satisfied with the themes available for bedspreads and such. So I bought a plain comforter and decided to make a cover for it. I am madly in love with all things Ai Yazawa, so I wanted a Happy Berry theme Cheesy For the cover, I just cut out some happy berry shapes from fleece and sewed it on a white sheet, then sewed that to another sheet to make a kind of slipcover. Like a pillowcase! I also made a squishy plush Happy Berry shaped pillow. It was my first experience with making a stuffy thing so I guess I'm quite pleased with it Smiley

my sad little corner of the room XD dorms are so small!

plush thing!

it's quite squishy and huggable. (marie antoinette poster fell down... >.<)

thanks for looking! everyone needs a little more Happy Berry in their life <3

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Fallen prey to the bookmaking bug! [img heavy] on: June 03, 2008 05:44:57 PM
I've been so into making books this past month! I don't know what it is about this craft, but I just can't get enough of it. And it's led to... this:

The whole lot of them.

My travel journal for my upcoming trip to Japan. I don't know why, but I used lots of differently colored paper in this one. I also had to burn the edges of the closure, because I was an idiot and didn't realize that bias tape would fray so much.

Toile book for my grandmother-- her entire house is decorated with this stuff! I need to find a better way to layer the fabric, so that you can't see all the edges.

Manly book! Haha, or at least my attempt at one. I tried a different way of doing the corners on this one-- it looks better but is very bulky. Hmm. The spine was also way too bulky because of the first layer of upholstery fabric.

The first one I made, before I knew that my signatures were only supposed to be about five pages... this one is kind of embarrassing ^^; The pink fabric is all wrinkly and the brown isn't cut straight.

Big, plain sketchbook for my sister. I'm not sure why it looks curved in the picture.. it's straight irl Smiley There's mostly white paper with colored paper for charcoal in the last two signatures. My binding still needs a lot of work, obviously.

So that's the beginning of my bookmaking craze! I'm trying to improve my neatness with things like cutting the pages and binding them together. Since school is out now, I need to buy a big cutting board... hmm...
