1  scarf numbr 9,427 I've made... in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: March 15, 2013 09:23:05 PM
ok, not true, just feels that way sometimes.   Wink This 1 is for my step sister.  I found a skein of Homespun when I was going through boxes here at my dad's.  The colorway is called Chippendale & the price tag on it is from Woolworth, so I've decided to call it vintage. The bear has seen better days, but now I'm thinking he might need a scarf too.

2  hooded baby blanket (because a person can NEVER have too many hoodies) in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: March 07, 2013 10:29:25 PM
this is a blanket I made for my best friend who is VERY pregnant.  I used Lion Brand Pound of Love & actually followed the pattern on the label! the first pic (if I did this right, is just to show the whole blanket the next pic is a close up of the hood & you can also see the shell pattern really well here.   the yarn is super super soft & the gorgeous buttery yellow color.  I hope the baby loves it!

3  wintry things VERY image fluffy in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: March 07, 2013 10:24:52 PM
this is a ruffly scarf I made for one of my best friends, she loves purple & green, this would be the matching hat that she has NO idea about! I decided that with everything my step sister & her family have done for me, I should reciprocate in some way.  This scarf is for her, the 2 hats in a previous post are for 2 of her sons, I made a scarf for my brother in law (forgot to take a pic) & I am going to make hats for my yougest niece & nephew who are twins. the last 2 are the scarf I made my step mom.  I used Homespun & just did a simple hdc tbl, the 2nd photo is a close up of the pattern.  She absolutely adores it! Random strangers stop her & tell her how much they like it & she tells them her daughter made it!

4  hats, hats, mo' hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: March 03, 2013 04:29:26 PM
A bit of background.  My mom passed away almost 10 years ago & my dad was left behind.  About 2 years ago, he met a lovely woman & last year they got married.  Somewhere in between them meeting & getting married I had major spinal surgery & lost the use of my hands for a long time.  While I was recovering, my Auto Immune arthritis really started to ravage my body, especially my hands.  Anyway, so my dad got married & I now have 2 step sisters, a brother in law, 3 nephews & a niece.  So I have not crocheted in about 2.5 years & I was missing it immensely.  A few weeks ago, I decided to give it a shot, even tho I have nerve damage in my hands & my fingers look like sausages.  Well, I am happy to report that I can STILL crochet, albeit in small amounts.  I made these hats for my 2 oldest nephews & they ADORE them!

The olive colored 1 is for my 16 year old nephew, who is a 1st degree black belt in karate & is pretty much a badass, except he loves his Aunt Smiley  The striped 1 is for my 12 year old nephew, who THINKS he's a badass, and likely will be 1 day Smiley

5  Chocolate cloche in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: October 25, 2009 06:47:08 PM
A few months ago, I made a hat for an old friend.  He was so pleased that he asked me to make one for his girlfriend.  Being the magnanimous person I am, I said yes.  She said she like brown and pink.  I found this pattern, and fell in love.  I used Simply Soft Eco, 2 strands for the hat, and 1 for the detachable flower pin.  I think it turned out great.

6  Birthday hat for Jeremy in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: September 13, 2009 08:29:22 PM
Hello Crafty Peeps!
I have a friend who is a HUGE sports nut, since he works for our local sports station, that works pretty well.  His birthday is Wed. but we are gonna hang out tomorrow.  Since I know that he is a huge sports fan, and that he plays football every weekend all winter long, I decided a hat was the way to go.  I dithered a bit over color, then remembered that even though I love him, he is a fan of the Indianapolis Colts *shudder*, so I had my colors, blue and white.  Now we proceed to the picture portion of the evening.

I made this hat first, but was not crazy about the way it came out.

picture came out weird, sorry.  It is off the Lion Brand website, but I was not sure, so..........since I had yarn left, I went with this old favorite, the boy beanie

then I decided that maybe I did like the first.

Hell with it, he gets em both!

**********UPDATE**********
he LOVED both hats, here are the pics

the one I was not sure I liked, but it looks great on him.

7  Mean Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: July 07, 2009 07:00:24 PM
I have a friend who is really into Nightmare Before Christmas (henceforth called NBC cause it is shorter to type.  Anyway, last year for our holiday swap I made her a NBC hat & scarf, based on the one that Lindsey Goes to Eleven made.  Anyway, I had shown it to one of my friends who immediately said "I need one of those but opposite."  I was dumb enough to ask what he meant by opposite (it was VERY late at night), and was told that the hat would look "meaner" if it was black with white accents.  What's a girl with a crafty bent to do?  I present you the "mean" version of the NBC hat.

please excuse the crappy photos.  Cellphones are meant to be phones, not cameras!

8  Hark! a Hat! in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: April 19, 2009 02:11:10 PM
Hello crafty peoples!
so I tore myself away from work long enough to watch my beloved Orioles play today.  Of course, this being Sunday, they lost.  In any case, I have a friend who is an avid motorcycle rider, who also happens to completely clean shaven.  I decided that he needed a hat.  I made the hat while I watched my birds lose, cause heaven forfend I just sit there, I made this!  Tell me what you think.

9  hooded baby blanket (image-ful) in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: February 15, 2009 08:19:07 PM
hello fellow crocheters!   I have completed another baby blanket.  My friend had a baby a little over a month ago, I guess.  I found this pattern on the Lion Brand site, and made it last year with different yarn, and a different hook, and it came out gorgeous.   This time I decided to actually *gasp* follow the pattern including recommended yarn and hook.  It came out really nice, of course I am biased.  Let me know what you think.

none of it really captured the color, it is this deep true blue, but all I have is my cell phone cam, since I cannot find my digital camera.

Giftee all wrapped up in blankie (isn't he cute!?!?!?!?)

10  big fluffy baby blankie (with big fluffy pics) in Crochet: Completed Projects by hheever on: January 25, 2009 05:35:20 PM
So my friend emailed me a few weeks ago with a dilemma.  When her older daughter was born, my friend's aunt had made her a blankie, but since then her aunt has become a grandmother, and it appeared that no blankie was forthcoming for the new daughter who was born at the end of October.  She asked if I could make 1 just like her older daughter's..... BUT DIFFERENT!  Very helpful.  She offered to pay, and sent me specs.  I received the pics, and refused payment, and got to work.  I wound up freehanding a v-stitch in Red Heart Baby Clouds, and it worked up VERY quickly.  I ran out of the pretty middle color, so I made white stripes on both sides, with a pink picot edge.  I am really pleased with the way it came out.  Now the problem was getting it to her.  Did I mention that she lives in another country?  No? Well she does.  I wound up sending it to her in-laws who live in the states, and they brought it when they went to visit last week.  Anyway, blanket was a big hit and big sis tried to steal it, but my friend prevailed, and the baby now has her own blanket!

Now the pics.
