3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Holiday List Swap Round 7 on: September 11, 2012 12:43:58 PM
I claim lydiaharper for some moustache wall art

Claims: 1/0/0

I'm Susan 21 years old from The Netherlands (important when sending) I still live at home with my mum and 20 year old brother. My boyfriend lives about 2 hours away near Amsterdam. I have a pretty alternative group of friends with a geeky twist with whom I play LARP and tabletop roleplaying games. I will keep updating this list.

Wishlist:
For my mum my brother and my boyfriend I would like stockings. Filling a stocking is not common in Holland and I would love to share this tradition with my family. However it is impossible to fing cute stockings over here. Stocking stuffers fitting the people below would also be awesome!

For my brother who has a plethora of disabilities (both mental and physical) and loves the muppets, the sea and detective shows (NCIS, Bones) He's going to be living on his own soon but he will only have a bedroom to fill.
- A nice sturdy (he has no mouth control so bites trough thin material) coffee cup with a muppet or NCIS (he loves Gibbs) image on it.
- something with steadler and waldorf from the muppets, maybe a piece of cute wall-art

For my mum currently runs two jobs, very passionate women who I'm very proud of. She's teaching middle school and is the main caretaker for my brother. Her secret ambition is to be an interior decorator Tongue
- A nice notebook with blank pages for sketching and glueing images. On the outside could be some inspiration she loves beach houses, clean and fresh interiors and lots of white.
- A framed quote (maybe papercrafted) about following your dreams no matter what it takes.
- A nice bookmark, nothing thick. She loves reading as relaxation at night. Might be a cute extra.

For my boyfriend 23 years old, lovely guy who has a passion for leathercrafts, LARP and dancing. He loves handmade goods a lot! and has a love for antiques.
- A nice notebook with an old feel maybe a leather or parchment cover?
- The avengers quote: ''Puny god'' on a piece of artwork, feel free to be creative.
- An avengers stuffy, Loki or ironman would be awesome.

For my friends they're LARP-ers and roleplayers
- Dice necklaces for the girls (nothing too girly)
- Steampunk jewelry
- Dice bags, I prefer lined ones, and they would have to be nice and big (think make-up bag size) Fun fabrics like pirate prints are appreciated.

For me:
- A camera strap with fabric so I don't hurt my neck anymore. I have a canon 600D
- Any quote from my pinterest board: http://pinterest.com/polychromical/quote-love/ as a hoopla or framed/canvas wall-art or even on something like a tote-bag.

Supplies

- any fabrics even scraps I can use
- cogs, gears and keys
- any leftover electricity bits, broken led lights, displays, print cards etc.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / 1920/30's formal - in winter on: November 09, 2011 07:23:13 AM
I'm going to an event which includes a somewhat formal occasion. The year is 1927 but all attendees have gotten some creative freedom to go anywhere between roughly 1920 and 1935 and to not take the dresscode too strict since it's a one occasion costume. My character is a nurse and there's not a single chance she'd appear in a flapper dress.
Besides that, it's gonna be mid-December and the event is taking place outside for most of it so I need some kind of vest/cover/jacket to got with the dress.

Until now I found these patterns, I'm curious what you guys think and which one would be best

This is the most decent 1930's pattern, I think the design is ok and might look allright on me. I will wear flat boots with this gown though, I can't wear heels for an entire weekend.

This is a more modern dress but I quite like it. I can wear a longsleeve under it and leggings. The main thing with this one would be finding a descent coat to go with it.

A less fitting but I believe gorgeous dress: It will have to be a bit shorter though and again I need a wrap to go with it.

What do you think? any suggestion how to weatherproof these dresses. Or maybe some other suggestions for useful patterns?

The whiskers are the center parts of small bird feathers. I just used a glue which is originally meant for glueing on fake beards.
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / exam pieces for make-up school on: April 18, 2011 09:45:09 AM
Hi everyone,

Lately I've really been getting back to facepainting classes. I recently took three exams and these are the pro-shot products:

First off:
Airbrush level one - Reptiles
Fully airbrush make-up, I'm really proud of this since airbrush has proven to be very hard!

Facepaint level 3 - Wild cats
The point of this facpaint was to create a fur-look. Therefore I applied 5 different colors of Kryolan aquacolor. Every line you see was painted on separately.

And the last one:
Make-up - Flowers as inspiration
For this one, everyone of my classmates picked very summer-y flowers. I decided to go for something a bit darker.

10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Tiger facepaint on: January 10, 2011 12:34:35 PM
I did a little facepaint practice session today. This paint was done on myself and took me about an hour to complete. For anyone interested the design is from a book called ''funky faces'' and the paints are a mixture of Grimas and a bit of metallic Kryolan  for the center copper colour.

I'm hoping to complete one facepaint every week from now on and this is kind of a good start I believe.
