Lately I've really been getting back to facepainting classes. I recently took three exams and these are the pro-shot products:

First off:
Airbrush level one - Reptiles
Fully airbrush make-up, I'm really proud of this since airbrush has proven to be very hard!


Facepaint level 3 - Wild cats
The point of this facpaint was to create a fur-look. Therefore I applied 5 different colors of Kryolan aquacolor. Every line you see was painted on separately.


And the last one:
Make-up - Flowers as inspiration
For this one, everyone of my classmates picked very summer-y flowers. I decided to go for something a bit darker.

I did a little facepaint practice session today. This paint was done on myself and took me about an hour to complete. For anyone interested the design is from a book called ''funky faces'' and the paints are a mixture of Grimas and a bit of metallic Kryolan  for the center copper colour.





I'm hoping to complete one facepaint every week from now on and this is kind of a good start I believe.

So, for my exam for this 10 week costume design course I took I had to make a costume based on the tea-party scene from Alice in Wonderland, Not a big deal for a wonderland fan.

I already had a steampunky design in my head that I wanted to make so I shoved the two together and made this. Basically it was a 2 week full time.

I made everything except the shoes. Handpainted the lace on the hat, made the hat itself, made a shirt, skirt, leather top, bloomers vest and the jewelry. I also did a make-up design that I painted on myself. I didn't use any patterns, cause well; I basically fail at using them.

I finally recieved my awesome package International shipping can be a pain. But wow, was this an awesome package.

Then a pile of magnets and pins with images from Omnia (my favorite band), Victoria frances and Brian Froud.


A Narnia binder, I love Narnia but it's nearly impossible to find cool stuff here in the Netherlands. An Omnia cd-pouch and a green man mask for Larp


Some more extra's; soap, a fairy keychain, and two traditional New zealand gifts.


A scarf, her very first one, it's incredibly soft, and so nice.


Three lovely little fearies she made, which are now sitting with my collection of witches


And last but not least, my by far favorite item. A sewing kit, that I can take along to faires and events. It's decorated and she even painted the faun and the fairy on it herself!

It just might be cold  

There might be kind of a wordy description following, if you're just here for the pictures just skip it

So the annual Omnia fairyball is this sunday, and with the dresscode (fairy like, sexy or just Omnia) I didn't have anything appropriate to wear. Looking trough my piles of fabric didn't help either. Not heaving the funds to go and buy some new fabrics I just couldn't manage to put a nice color combination together.
Until......
I found this piece of beautiful fabric I got from my aunt. It had been in the huge bag of scraps and I didn't know it was this big! Soon the idea of my firefairy was born.

Since I went trough a kind of a rough time I didn't have any of my patterns on hand; I just scribbled some stuff down and started cutting. Adjusting some piece while on the go. When I finished the dress I decided I needed wings to emphasize the fact that we were indeed dealing with a fairy here.
I also made myself a pair of armwarmers with some black fleece in it, to match my stockings, A pair of legwarmers and a hairband.

I recieved the most awesome package today here's some pics. Have to do the quick route though. Cause I'm off to work in like 15 minutes

First off there were a ton of squares for my patchwork skirt; I especially love the orange and blue ones.


Then there was a huge pile of awesomeness, buttons, trim and even badges with my favorite quotes on them.


Some costume jewelry, the cross necklace goes so well with my costume for the weekend. I see if I can get a picture takes this weekend to show it off
