That's fun. Smiley Did you use the USPS stickers that you can get for free off of their website? I love those things.

The photos are a little blurry, but they look better than the ones I made. I like them.  Smiley

That's adorable! Where did you get the little cell charm? Doesn't look like something you'd find at the mall...

Did you do the white swirly design and the red or just the red? Because, personally, I like the jacket without the red patches. The white swirlies are awesome.

Hey all,
This is probably the very first thing I ever stenciled in my life, using good ol' freezer paper (the parents thought I was nuts when I put it in our grocery cart). I think it came out pretty good for a first time, but I'm always welcome to critique.
Surprisingly, it didn't take but one coat of white paint to cover the black, which was nice. =]

1207  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I need suggestions on how to make a Valkyrie Skirt... on: October 21, 2007 02:00:41 PM
I didn't really know where to put this since it could go under a couple categories...so "Miscellaneous" sounded about right.

I'm going to my first-ever Anime Detour this spring. My boyfriend and I have decided to cosplay as Kazuki Muto and Tokiko Tsumura from Busou Renkin. His weapon is pretty easy to make - it's just a big sword - but mine is a little...different.

It's called a Valkyrie Skirt. It attaches to Tokiko's upper thighs and unfolds when in battle, and as seen in the pictures, it's pretty huge and can move in many different positions.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how I should do this. My boyfriend said to use Wonderflex, but I want it to be able to fold it up when I'm walking around and unfold it for pictures. I thought of maybe tearing apart a dollar-store umbrella and using the joints for the limbs and making some sort of umbrella/Wonderflex combo thing, but even that doesn't sound too great. I'm also not sure how to get it to attach to my thighs and stay there for, oh, three days or so. =] We thought maybe some sort of suspender belt would work, but that's as far as we got.

We don't have metalworking supplies or anything like that, and we're on sort of a tight budget - any ideas?

(Oh, by the way, this is my first post...Hi!)
