You could make the stencil out of something sturdier (thin plastic?) and then use spray adhesive on the backs of them to get them to stick to the shirts while you are stenciling...
You can also use iron-on transfer paper. I've found that to be a lot quicker, though it doesn't have the same handmade effect as paint.

You could try cardstock and spray adhesive. 3M sells Post-It note adhesive in a spray can - that might work, since it's meant to be removable.

Brrr. That's creepy.

Maybe you could get a junk steering wheel and wear it around your neck...or get some special-effects makeup and embed some plastic "windshield" in your forehead with it? There has to be some way to do that out there...
