41  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Any ideas for "Handmade production line gifts"? on: October 21, 2007 04:38:56 PM
A food that is really easy to make and sooo good are "Poor Man's Turtles"

POOR MAN'S TURTLES

1 large bag of small, round pretzels
7 to 8 packages Rolo candies
1 (16-ounce) bag pecan halves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lay out pretzels on ungreased cookie sheet.

Place a Rolo on top of each pretzel.

Place in 350 degree F oven for 4 minutes. Remove from oven.

Place pecan half on top and press down a little. Cool and serve.
42  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Personalized Coloring Books - Christmas Idea on: October 21, 2007 04:35:52 PM
One thing I am doing for Christmas this year is making the children in my family personalized coloring books. This is so easy and quick. If you have Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop you can use that, but I am using this free program to turn pictures into sketches that look like coloring pages.

I will find pictures of the child and do a whole book of just him or her. I plan on making a cover that will say something like "_____'s Coloring Book" or something and having it laminated. Our local office supply store charges .75 per foot for lamination.

Here is an example of how the pages come out using a picture of my own kids.

I don't have a clue how to use a sewing machine and I would love to try this since it was done by hand. This would be great for Christmas. The pictures aren;t showing up for me though. Is there another place I could see them?
