1  Re: Fake Swapping Craft-along (ongoing) in Craftalongs by HippieKender on: February 28, 2011 12:22:08 PM
Whoops!  I forgot that I said I was going to do another purse for this swap! I did make one, and posted it awhile back... Here's a couple pics

The purse. Much better size and I love the fabric my partner picked.

New wallet. LOVE! My old wallet was so big it could have been a purse all on it's own! This is compact and lightweight and adorable (imho Cheesy )

Tissue Cozy. My partner got this fabric from a previous swap and I love it.  As a mom, I always need tissues!

My partner also sent me a tin of Altoids - I love the mints and I save the tins to re-purpose! She also sent me a tiny purse-size brush and a business/gift card holder, but I seem to have misplaced those pictures Sad

A couple more pics and a little bit more info can be found here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=373147.msg4391625#msg4391625

And, now, I should get back to packing my house. I was going to try to be crafty today, but when I went to grab supplies I realized I had already packed 95% of my craft supplies Cry Very sad.

2  Re: Mug Rug Swap Gallery! (SendOut Feb 22) in The Swap Gallery by HippieKender on: February 25, 2011 02:56:17 PM
I received my mug rug from zigg13pra today!  She also went with my kitchen colors Smiley  It also looks like she was inspired by my wists and went with a dresdon plate inspired design. Love it!

Front

With mug (excuse the blurry shot. I haven't figured out the new/used camera yet):

Hmm, that picture makes the rug look absolutely huge. It's not really gigantic, it's a perfect size! Objects photographed by an amateur photographer may appear larger than life!  Cheesy

Thank you, Zigg13pra, i love it!

I received my mug rug for maremare today! It's perfect and I love it!

And with my giant mug:

It's wonderful! That mug is huge and I like that there's enough room for a soup mug plus some crackers Smiley  The design was inspired by a rug on my wists and the colors are perfect for my red and black kitchen!  Plus, I really dig the quilting!
Thank you so much MareMare! Grin

4  New Little Purse & Babyangel Wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by HippieKender on: February 15, 2011 08:31:03 AM
A while back I made a tie-dye hobo bag.  I love the idea of the bog, but i decided it was too big and bulky for every day use. I had to make myself another.  This time with accessories!
First, the purse:

There's a big pocket on the front that i use for my cell phone.

And the inside:

I carry the music with me wherever I go.  Cheesy  There's 6 card slots and a zipper pocket. The other side has 2 "regular" pockets.

Inside the zipper pocket:

Rainbows! This make me ridiculously happy. Grin

And the wallet to go with it:

My last wallet was HUGE! It could have been a purse all on its own! This one is cute, lightweight and just big enough to fit my everyday needs. I followed babyangels's tutorial, making small adjustments to fit my needs.

I also made a tissue cozy with some lovely fabric I received in a swap:

Mom's always need tissues in their purse, right?  Wink

I'm working on a gift card/business card holder, too. I'm trying to keep everything organized.

6  Re: Shop the Swap 47 **discussion thread** in New Swap Theme Ideas by HippieKender on: February 12, 2011 09:08:56 PM
I have a strange request. Can anyone draw me a really good pair of chattering walking teeth with a wind up key? I need an outline drawing kinda like a coloring book picture so I can applique them to a quilt. No bigger than 4x6 inches. If anyone is interested please message me. I will pay a point or do a personal swap for it.There is a photo about halfway down this page of what I'm talking about.
http://www.securityawareness.com/pi_fun.htm

Thanks!

Does this work for what you need?

It should be 4x6 but if it's too big or too small, let me know; I can resize it.
Here is the link http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f340/HippieKender/ChatterTeethFinal.png
No point/swap needed Smiley
Essentially, I printed a picture of chattering teeth, traced it with pencil, scanned it in then brought it into a photo editing program and "traced" it again.  It was the easiest way I could think to do it because I can't draw Wink

7  Cupid Heart Valentines in Valentine's Day by HippieKender on: February 11, 2011 11:24:44 AM
I found out at 7:30 last night that my son's Valentines Day party at school is TODAY. Why didn't I get anything home telling me about this? I didn't even have a list of names of the other kids! How is he supposed to address them? More importantly, what am I going to do now? I thought I had the entire weekend to make valentines with the kids and their parties would be on Monday. I was totally unprepared!
I knew I wanted to make hearts with a pencil through them (like Cupid's heart) but I only had the pencils.  I briefly thought that craft foam would be a good idea, but found that I didn't have enough to make 28 hearts. The only solution I could come up with is index cards. Thankfully they were just big enough to make a fair sized heart for the pencil.
I cut a template, traces 28 hearts, punched 56 holes, realized those holes were not big enough for the pencil, cut slits so the pencils could fit through, wrote cheesy sayings and stepped back to decide what I thought about them.

I decided they looked a little plain.  I added some red hearts and stepped back again. Still too plain! I added a little black border so they looked like they were stitched.  Now I love them!

Finish up the other 23 and do a happy dance - I am done! They probably took me 2 hours.

Things I would do differently next time:
  • Find out the date of the party so I have plenty of time to prepare!
  • Print out the words before I cut out the hearts. My hand was all cramped by the time I finished.
I like how they turned out.  I think they are cute. Hopefully not too cute for a 10 yr old boy. Roll Eyes

For more of my frantic crafting night, you can check out my blog post.  The basics are here though.

9  Re: Babyangel wallet along in Craftalongs by HippieKender on: January 27, 2011 07:34:34 PM
I am totally necro'ing this thread!
I needed a new (much smaller) wallet to go with the new purse I made and remembered that I liked this pattern, so I made one up tonight.

I'll probably be posting this again when I make a thread about my purse, but I wanted to share it in the babyangel-wallet-along Grin

PS please ignore the stray threads.  I thought I had gotten them all, but I see that I missed a few in my haste to post pics Wink

Yay! I made one!

Those are my daughter's feet in there.
It's filled with corn so it can be microwaved Smiley

...now I need to stop pampering myself and start concentrating on swaps and other goodies I have promised Wink  Though, I do need a hat to keep the winter chill off my head...
