8  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: New home for my fish! on: September 18, 2009 04:06:20 PM
it looks beautiful!  how creative and neat!

a while ago someone else did something like this with a betta in it, and there was a big hullabaloo about it being inhumane for the fishy.  im not sure if its *that* horrible (i mean, you feed it and make sure it has a clean home and all, which is a lot better then what have sometimes had, lol), but, i was wondering if there is another type of fish that would be good for a small space like that?  because i want a cool looking fish tank too!!!

10  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / help me with questions about modifying pattern (kind of repost) on: September 15, 2009 10:44:48 PM
sorry, this is a repost from the costume board, but i thought i would repost in case someone could answer my sewing questions.  ty!
-----------------------------------------------------------

going to a renn fair, ive never been to one before, but this year i decided to go and since im such a devoted craftster i am making my own costume.

i was going to do simplicity 9966, but then thought 2573 would be more comfortable AND easier to make.  i havent sewn anything with a pattern in..... thirteen years.  but then i was thinking that the longer skirt and thicker fabric on 2573 would not be suitable for a fair.  what do yall think?

also, here are is a question i had about modifying pattern 2573:
-what other fabric could i use besides brocade or upholstery jaquard
-could i just shorten the train on the pattern by cutting 2 front pieces and using 1 for the back and 1 for the front (and then cutting those side skirt pieces too)?  in an experienced seamstresses's opinion, would that look ok?  it wouldnt mess up the whole line of the dress or anything, right?
-what color would this look good in?  i have a mediteranean(sp, sorry) type coloring

thanks in advance!

also, this is 2573: http://www.simplicity.com/p-1532-costumes.aspx
