1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Son of SnB - 'Treads' pattern help! on: January 08, 2009 04:16:09 PM
Although not my first pair of socks, it is my first time dealing with 'wrapped' stitches.
I've come to the second half of the heel turn and the pattern reads:
Row 1: K to first wrapped st, PU wrap and k tog with st tbl, W&T (st will have 2 wraps).

My question: "Pick up wrap and knit together with stitch through back loop, wrap and turn."  Right?  But the idea at this point is to increase the number of live stitches back to 52.  But picking up the wrap and knitting it together isn't an increase.
So am I picking up the wrap, knitting it through back loop, then knitting the original wrapped stitch through back loop and then wrapping & turning on that same stitch (after slipping it back to the LH needle)? Thus the wrap has turned into a live stitch?  Have I stared too long at this pattern?!  Am I making any sense?!!!

Any opinions appreciated!!
Thank you!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Newbie Needs Pattern Help on: December 10, 2007 06:53:57 PM

Bit of a newbie to sewing clothes.  Decided to sew a bathrobe as a beginner project. (No buttons! No zippers! Doesn't have to fit perfectly!)  Am laying out the pattern and know that I'm supposed to lay the pieces 'on the fold,' like the diagram says.  Some of the pieces, however, have the main dark solid line and a secondary solid line just inside that line and it's labeled "Fold Line".  Help!!  Do I place the pattern piece on the fold of the fabric with the main dark solid line at the edge?  Or the "Fold Line" at the edge with a little bit of the pattern piece hanging over?
Also, with this particular pattern piece, the diagram shows the piece layed out just once along the fold, but on the piece is printed "Cut Two."
The pattern is Simplicity 3575.

Hope I made sense.  Any advice would be appreciated!
Thank you!
3  California / California: South / Craft Fair in Pomona today through Saturday on: October 18, 2007 02:16:15 PM
I didn't see a post about this (sorry if I overlooked one). . .

There's a quilt craft sewing fair in Pomona starting today. I picked up a flier for it in the quilt exhibit at the LA County Fair.
The website for the sponsoring company is quiltcraftsew.com

I'm bummed it doesn't seem to be a combination of exhibitors and vendors (like quilt shows), only vendors. Generally I like to be inspired by great craft before I start spending lots of money!  Wink

Hope this is helpful to LA based craftsters!!
