101  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Dripping with Crystals Chandelier on: December 27, 2007 11:08:25 AM
This is a chandelier I dd a while ago for my new dining room. I found my dream chandelier in a super expensive store in Vancouver a few years ago, but alas I could not afford it!  So I decided to start buying old chandelier crystals on ebay and one day hoped to find the right lamp to make my chandelier.  I had almost given up, when suddenly I found the perfect one at ikea, so we bought it, took it home and stripped it.  Then I attached the crystals with fishing line and ta-da!  The chandelier was born!  So it's tecnichally not my design, but I did make it and changed it a bit .....

I've started making 3-D crochet objects and I need them to be rock hard....... i've heard of lquid starch, but do i have to iron it to set it?  because i can't really iron a 3-D object!  i plan on painting acrylic medium over the object, i just need a hard base to start with..... and ideas?
108  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Sock Monkey Girl (lots of pics) on: December 06, 2007 01:01:59 PM
So a while ago I saw a post on here, by owly in the crochet section, she had made dolls in costumes so i decided to try it out myself and this is the result!  Let me know what you think!  It was my first time doing a doll ..... the hair was a real challenge!  I crochetted everything, but embroidered the hair (my first try at embroidery!)  originally i posted this in the toys and dolls area, but didn't know how to move the post, so i made a new one here..... still fairly new at this whole posting thing!

109  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 23 ENTRIES / From Frightful Frocks to Goddess Gown (img heavy) on: December 01, 2007 08:50:56 PM
Wow this was a lot of work, but tons of fun!!!  I started with three super ugly moo moos (about $15 total), cut them into strips and sewed each strip together to make my own "yarn".  Then I designed the pattern, doubled up my homemade "fightful frock yarn" with some nice grey silky yarn and crochetted for a few hours until voila!  the goddess gown was born!!  It's the most comfortable, cozy, sensual dress I've ever worn! The pattern is done in a fairly open stitch, so I'll wear a grey slip under it.  The gown has got a lot of weight to it, and the bottom of the dress really kicks up when I walk, it's almost cartoonish!  The dress is for my husband's Christmas party, and I'm so excited at how it turned out!!  I hope everyone likes it as much as I do!

THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!
