6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Dots Lap blanket on: June 12, 2009 10:35:54 AM
This pattern is from Interweave crochet, spring 2008. I had been eyeing it up for quite some time and finally got around to making it for my partner in the Pimp my office swap.

It's lapghan size made from caron Simply Soft. 4 skeins pink, 2 brown and 3 white. I love the way it turned out!
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Movie backer cards on: June 10, 2009 10:39:50 AM
I have access to a seemingly unending supply of movie backer cards. They are thin cardboard and the same size as a DVD case. So far I've used them as covers to handbound books and made coasters out of them. I'm looking for ideas!

What I have:

What I've done so far:

Anybody got any great ideas? I'm out and have tons of them and hate for perfectly good supplies to go to waste!
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Any interest in another small destash/buy nothing swap? on: June 10, 2009 10:14:24 AM
I'm currently trying to do some major destashing before my craft supplies eat my spare room completely. Would there be any interest in a small destash/buy nothing swap again?

I'm thinking crafting maybe 3 points worth? I've never organized before but am willing to give it a shot but would have to keep it small.

Any interest out there?
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Star Trek Movie: Help me freak out my husband on: April 29, 2009 10:38:15 AM
Aright, the Star Trek movie snuck up on me and now I need ideas, quick!

I'm one of those people who would go dressed up to conventions, if she ever found time to go to conventions. My husband is one of those people who would pretend not to know me while I was dressed up! So I was teasing him that I was going to dress up for the movie and he said he wouldn't go with me if I was wearing anything Star Trek that was larger than a small button.

So now I need to do something that I can hide in my purse, but is obviously Star Trek so I can pull it out of my purse and put it on and embarass him.

I knit, crochet, do papercrafts, some beading...

Any ideas would be appreciated!!
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Inherited half finished quilt, terrified to ruin it....HELP! on: September 26, 2008 07:01:06 AM
I've read through the beginners thread and looked at some of the recommended websites but I still feel like I need more information. Okay, here is the story. A few months ago my husband's maternal Grandmother passed away. She did several different crafts and I ended up with most of the unfinished stuff and supplies because no one else in the family crafts at all. Here is the particular piece that I'm concerned about:

I don't quilt, at all. Never have. I do a little sewing. Well, I got this bright idea that I should finish the quilt for my husband's Mother for Christmas. I know she would love it and I also know that she would not have the skill to finish it herself. She wanted to hold onto some of the already finished ones but I don't know if she even ended up with one of them (she kind of got the short end as far as "stuff" from what I've heard).

So I think that tying would be the quickest and easiest, correct?
I saw that some people said yarn and some said thread, which is better?
I need to sandwich it first, but what kind of material is good for backing? Oh, his Mom is in South Carolina.
Any recommendations on batting?
Do I tie it and then do the edges on it? It is easiest to do with bias tape?

In other words: HELP!
