Package Three from Pixieval!

directly from my wists, reuseable sandwhich wrappers + napkins

A cute little toe bag and a headband I think with cute hot pink bicycles on it.

six knitting ornaments also from my wists.

a see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil monkey sculpture that she found at a thrift store. I think it's a candle holder. It's totally going on my patio to keep my gnomes and buddha sculptures company.

thanks for everything pixieval. you're an awesome swap partner!

2  Re: mini 13 days of halloween swap gallery! in The Swap Gallery by lilgothkatt on: October 03, 2009 05:46:58 AM
All the pretties. minus day 1.

Day one:

awesome bag. I think I'll use it for my portable craft projects that I take to my daughters tumbling class and coffee shops.

Day two:

A very cute halloween themed hello kitty pendant which my daughter has claimed  Tongue. she steals all the cool stuff. It got a little chip in shipping but i suspect some black paint will fix that right up.

Day three:
A cute little family sign. My mom has a bigger version of this but her's is white. Mine is much cooler. It is now sitting on my mantle. or well actually it's sitting on my roommates sister who passed away a few years ago. it's also right underneath my elk skull. one of my favorite possessions.

Day four:
Socks! as everyone knows I make sock monkeys/animals. these will make for some very snazzy monkeys....or maybe alligators.

Day five:
Skull earrings. very big but not heavy at all. they are pretty comfortable to wear.

Day six:
an awesome ring. It reminds me of victorian mourning jewelry. So it will be part of my steampunk costume. my character is a widow.

Day seven: Sticky toys. you know, the ones you throw on walls and windows. My daughter promptly took these to her friends house and got them stuck on their vaulted ceilings. they are still up there.

day eight:
A game that sounds really fun but we haven't had a chance to play yet. My sister thinks it would make a good drinking game.

Day nine: A vampire pendant. my daughter keeps trying to steal this one too.

Day ten: A switchplate cover with a line from my favorite halloween book, Tailypo. It reads, "I know and you know that all I want is my tailypo!"

Day eleven:
CANDY! Skull shaped chocolates! Nom Nom Nom!

Day twelve:
two spider magnets who have found a nice home on my fridge.

Day thirteen: day 13 was for Willow (the kid) She got a doll. I thought she was kinda creepy but Willow really likes her. sadly she arrived with a broken foot.I tried to fix it but it keeps falling off.

Thank you Mimi!

I recieved my second box from pixieval today. Awesome stuff. My pictures kinda suck though.

First we have an awesome Pinata shirt that Val made for me with a pinata applique. It says, "I'd hit that." She also sent me MORE awesome fabric. I have plans to turn some of these into a new wallet for myself. She also sent a heap of embroidary floss. Can never have to much of that stuff. Annnnnnd a Bertie Bott's every flavor bean picute frame. When I get some pics taken of my tonks costume I'm gonna put it in this frame.

She also sent me this amazing clock! I was so worried when I opened it. I have a love hate relationship with clocks. I love how they look and their usefullness but I HATE their ticking. Luckily this one doesn't tick!! yay! I put it up in my kitchen straight away.

Thanks for everything Val I lurve it all.

Got my package from pixieval today. OMG that thing was filled to the brim with goodies.
Check it out:

She sent tons of books for my little Willow, A teddy bear making kit, Willow wants to learn to sew. Sadly she gets easily frustrated and gives up. we've already started the bear twice now.
Two books for me on quilting and one on embroidary. A small cross stitch kit, some fabric and a bunch of lace and ribbon.

This is the awsome banner she made for Willow with her name on it. I had a devil of a time trying to find a place to hang this to take it's picture. Willow loves it and we're trying to think of the perfect place to put it.

This is the TON of fabric scraps and backing she sent me so I can learn to crazy quilt. my favorite is this greeny batik. I couldn't get a good close up pic of it.

Also not pictured is the item from her home town. Her husband is in the armed forces. (I forget which one at the moment) She sent me a "Challenge coin"  from the Minot, North Dakota base. Along with a neat artical about the possible origins of the tradition.

Willow and I are so happy with our goodies we can't wait to see what comes next!

5  Yummy dreads... in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by lilgothkatt on: July 14, 2009 12:59:30 AM
This was my first attempt at making my own dreads. There are 100 total. They are single loop. Sadly I am having difficulty putting this many in my hair. My friends was supposed to help me but then she injured her shoulder at work. If you live in the san diego area and want to lend me a hand that'd be awsome, lol.

The colors are bubblegum, candy caned bubblgum/plum, and plum.

EDIT: I finally got them put in last thursday. Sorry for the myspace-esque photos. my boyfriend works nights and hasn't been able to take pics for me.

6  Day of The Dead Curtains in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by lilgothkatt on: July 14, 2009 12:54:24 AM
So my sister and I closed on our house a few monthes ago. Since then I've been working on turning it from "old lady" to something a little more our style. We decided to do the laundry room Day of the Dead themed. It's been painted hot pink and slowly I've been adding stuff to fit the theme.

I just finished the curtains. I'm not 100% happy with them but they aren't bad for now.

I still need to paint the door white :/

A close up of the embroidary. It's much bolder in RL. The rickrack on the skull is actually neon green.

9  Re: Gamer Nerd craftalong?? in Craftalongs by lilgothkatt on: February 10, 2007 03:33:20 AM
So yeah. I sewed that arm on and then decided I hated it so I gave it to my toddler who had been eyeing it anyways.
So trying something different I went with a sculpted body and then fabric for clothes. she isn't quite done yet and I want to put her on a base.

head shot

my sculpting is still pretty simple but overall I'm happy with it.
I do have some pics of her naked. she is anatomicly correct. I spose I can black bar them if anyone wants to see.

10  Re: Decorate my house room by room craft-a-long in Craftalongs by lilgothkatt on: January 31, 2007 03:57:16 PM
Ok so I just took some pics but as there is no natural light in my bathroom they are a little off in color.

First off here is my inspiration for the room. This is a painting my grandmother did. It's always been one of my favorites and one of the few pieces of hers that anyone has. The color I painted the walls matches the real light spot right over her shoulder.

So far I've got the new ligth in and the new mirror in and I'm almost done painting.
