11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Charm Swap Gallery! (MAIL BY 3/10/07). on: February 12, 2007 03:24:54 PM
Here you are ladies, post your pics here!
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Question on DC's for my swap! on: February 06, 2007 08:00:14 PM
I'm organizing the Charm Swap, it's modeled after a swap from about 2 years ago (before DC's were mandatory from what I remember). Everyone in the swap must send out to 11 other people...do I have to make them buy 11 DC's? It could get very costly, especially with a few international packages adding to the shipping cost.

I was thinking everyone could pick a package and put a DC on it, as proof they sent...or perhaps scan their postage receipt? I just hate to make everyone pay for 11 DC's on top of postage. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm sorry if this has been answered, the search isn't working.
13  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Charm Swap (SIGNUP CLOSED! MAIL BY 3/10/07). on: February 06, 2007 01:35:43 PM
Swap name: Charm Swap!
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: snowwhitesuicide
Sign-up date range: 2/6/07-2/20/07
Date to send item by: 3/10/07

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 12

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
Which means if you won't ship internationally, this swap won't work for you!

All ages allowed? Or 18+? ALL AGES! (Make sure you have permission if under 18 and are capable of doing so!)

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap: A revisit to the "Charmed I'm Sure" swap of 2005! In this swap 12 Craftsters will make 12 identical charms, keep one for themselves, and mail the other 11 to the other 11 swappers.  At the end, all twelve Craftsters will have matching Craftster-made charm bracelets!

The charms should be STURDY! This means using either a key-ring (12mm split ring for example) style connector or a clasp (lobster claw for example) connector. Charms tend to snag so make sure yours wont fall to pieces if that happens! Try to keep them no bigger than a bottle cap...any bigger would be impractical as a charm.

Be sure when mailing that your charm wont tear through the envelope! (Happened last time!)

This is my bracelet from last time to give you an idea of how cool this swap will be!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

REGARDING SHIPPING AND DCN'S-
As you may know, Craftster usually asks each swapper to purchase a Delivery Confirmation Number (tracking number) for each package as both proof you sent and a way to track your package. In this swap, that could get a little pricey for some, so you have the OPTION.
IF YOU CHOOSE NOT to get the DCN's for each package, YOU WILL be responsible for sending out another package if yours does not arrive. So you can save some money, but be prepared to send out another charm if one happens to get lost.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO get the DCN's...you are in the clear.

So it's up to you.

WHEN YOU PACKAGE YOUR CHARMS- I cannot stress enough, your best bet is a small bubble mailer, if you must use an envelope, tape that sucker up! Last time we did have a couple of empty envelopes arrive with tears in them and no charm! If you package something poorly, you will be responsible for it!

I will give everyone their feedback asap after their charms are received, this is my first time organizing and I promise to be as on the ball as humanly possible!

Thanks for signing up, if you miss the sign ups, don't worry, there will be another round I'm sure!

14  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My new craft room! on: January 29, 2007 02:24:13 PM
I'm insanely excited about finally having my own craft/sewing room, so I had to share!

The best part is...there are two BIG BLANK WALLS just begging for some crafty decor! I didn't get the rug, but it's deep green with green leaves on it...so nice. I have speakers set up in there, so I just pop on my iPod, shut the door, and go to town!

Sewing corner with my thrifted sewing bench (I recovered it to match my machine...which coincidently matches the green walls of my room!)

Books (I treasure my books), my adjustable antique dressform (currently modeling a recon project) my plastic storage towers and just to the right of the photo are 3 totes of fabric and yarn...

And the closet (a work in progress) and my smaller dressform (Isabelle).

Thanks for looking!! Suggest decor ideas if you like!
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cordouroy skull one shoulder bag! [IMG Heavy!] on: January 29, 2007 02:11:49 PM
First bag I've made in a LONG time. I used a pattern as a guide, the skull I cut off an old shirt that I hated.

Thanks for looking!
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Charm Swap! on: January 29, 2007 11:57:50 AM
Alright, I participated in this swap almost 2 years ago:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22900.msg187347#msg187347

I think it's a great idea and I'd love to do it again! We could keep holding these and end up with some really great Craftster-exclusive charm bracelets. (I still wear mine from the first swap!)

How it works is each swapper makes enough identical charms for themselves and the others, and you mail them out, with everyone ending up with a handful of charms made by different Craftsters. It was limited it to 12 last time and it worked out well. The shipping is dirt cheap, too because of the size.

Anyone down?
17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cigar Box Surprise Swap! on: January 28, 2007 10:00:37 PM
I have a weird, unexplainable love for cigar boxes. I'd love to do a swap where we decorate a cigarbox and put some fun surprises inside of it! You could fit all sorts of thing in a cigar box! Coin purses, dolls, magnets, buttons, etc.

Your partner's questionnaire will allow you to really please them! Anyone interested?
18  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Help with Sublime Stitching pattern on: July 25, 2006 01:21:33 PM
I have a rockin roller derby pattern from Sublime Stitching...but it's an iron transfer. I have two concerns.

1- I've never done this before, is there a certain way to stitch?
2- Any ideas on how to do this on black fabric?
