1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / FO's: Skull Button "Buttony Sweater", Baby hoodie and Henry Rollins! on: February 25, 2008 08:32:14 PM
I finished these this past fall but never posted! (Ravelry distracted me!) So allow me to show off the last things I knit before I developed a pregnancy-induced knitting aversion!

Here's my skull buttons "buttony sweater" (free pattern from ohmystars.net)

My big advice for this sweater...don't use heavy metal buttons! My buttons (as awesome as they are) weight the sweater down big time. I sized the sweater up too which in hindsight wasn't necessary...although I can wear it now at 5 months pregnant so I guess that's a plus!

It's a shame Knit Picks discontinued this Panache yarn because it's sooooo soft. I used the "coal" color.

I knit Henry here for a Punk Rock Gift Exchange (blog swap) using the Knit Your Own Rockstar pattern from Stitch N Bitch:

And for a frilly change of pace, the baby hoodie (Called "Half Pint Hoodie") I knit for my baby cousin:

Thanks for looking!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Sizzle [Knit & Tonic] Fini! on: July 04, 2007 04:51:16 PM
Finished this a couple weeks ago and was waiting for a nice day for pictures, but well...I live in New England, so crap pictures it is!

Pattern: Sizzle, by Knit and Tonic
Yarn: Knit Picks Merino Style in "Moss"
Size: Medium (38" Bust)
Mods: Lengthened about 6 inches, I have a long torso and a beer belly to contend with. I also didn't seed stitch around the arm holes because I didn't like how it looks.

Cleavage? Check.

3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 19 ENTRIES / Royalty Runs With Scissors on: July 04, 2007 03:07:28 PM
This is my first Craft Challenge entry!
This was a total pain to make solid without superglue, but I managed! I used 8 pairs of cheap safety scissors, spray paint, bottle caps, poker chips, glass marbles, an old belt, and some jewels.

(It says CRAFTY in the glass marbles, btw)

I love it, I feel both royal and dangerous. (Headbutt contest anyone?)

Thanks for looking!

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another Charm Swap? on: June 27, 2007 12:46:27 PM
Anyone up for another round? I got a PM about it and most of the people in the last one were interested.

The idea is 12 people craft 12 mostly identical charms and send one to each of the 11 other people and keep one for themselves!

I've done two swaps and here's what I've got on my unique Craftster Charm bracelet!

So who's in? Sign ups would be in a couple weeks after I wrap up my current swap.

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Consistant poor swapping on: April 07, 2007 01:56:27 PM
If a swapper has a lot of "poor communication" and "sent late"s is it OK to turn them down for a swap, is there a certain process to go about this?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / I <3 my little yippy dog swap on: April 02, 2007 01:55:16 PM
I'd love to see a swap in praise of our little "kickme" dogs! Yes those floofy, yippy, dogs that big dog owners scoff at. You could make all sorts of fun stuff for dogs, maybe there was a swap like this before, but I'd love to see one.

Stuff like dog toys, bowls, treat containers, collars, clothes, sweaters, etc.

Anyone else interested? It'd have to wait a bit, I'm up to my eyeballs in swaps, but that'll give this time to gather some interest!

Details of swap:
Yes, it is back! AGAIN! The Dollar Store swap.  Here's the rules from last swaps.

We have all gone to the local dollar store and have seen things that would be fun to use in a future swap or a swap you're doing right then but didn't want to get it for fear of being seen as a total cheapskate...well here's your chance! This swap is all about your dollar store love.

RULES:
1.  It's easy to go nuts in the dollar store, so there is a spending limit.  No less then $5 and no more than $10.
2.  There are fake dollar stores out there. You know the ones, The 99 Cents (and in really itty bitty letters) and up stores.  Well, for this swap the store has to be at least 90% of just dollar stuff, there are some stores out there that have a "roped off" section of items that are more than a dollar, but to store has to be almost all dollar items.
3.  No going to other stores like Micheals or WalMart and going to their dollar section.  The store has to be at least 90% dollar stuff.
4.  No thrift stores.  I know I know, but they are so wonderful! I thought a while about this and I think it would be fun to just keep to the dollar store.
5.  Think of this swap as a little bit of a stash buster, you can use whatever you have left over from other swaps or other crafts you can do...but no buying other stuff at the craft store.  Need yellow paint? Try to think of a way around it, change it around, be creative!  The only thing you can go get is glues.  Some things you want to do have a very specific glue needed that you just don't have, or you run out of it...so you can go get glues (or what ever you need to stick to it...).
6.  Go nuts! This should be fun and a bit tacky, after all it is the dollar store...the land of cheap plastic things and slightly stale food...and totally addictive *grin*

Any questions about any of this feel free to PM me, I check my email and craftster periodically all day usually, so I should be able to get right back to you.

What to craft:

Thee small items, or one medium one small item, or one large item....as large an item can be from the dollar store lol  Really, it is all dollar store size relative.

There have been a lot of questions about the crafting for this so I am posting a link to the gallery from last two swaps to give you all an idea of what you can do.
