1  Re: Kids Craft and Swap Gallery/ send out date changed May 9 in The Swap Gallery by snowwhitesuicide on: May 19, 2008 08:36:00 AM
Well I think Zoe's partner is busy so I'm going to go ahead and post what she made for Autumn. (with sufficient looming over by me!)

Kid-sized craft apron made of recycled jeans. Zoe's first whirl at a sewing machine...which nearly gave me heart failure.

Some designed by Zoe originals.

Zoe also crafted 2 or 3 (can't remember) friendship bracelets, including one with a pattern she "thought up"...so uh, that would be the crazy bunch of knots one Autumn received. Who am I to doubt her pattern, right?

And she also sent Autumn some marble magnets of the Cheetah Girls. And a rock, I think. She was whipping things in the envelope while I wasn't looking.

Great swap! She's already bugging me about the next round! (And to let her make her OWN craft apron, naturally.)

OK I'm finally posting pics! Sorry for the delay, my camera batteries are often hijacked for wii remotes!

Zoe's AWESOME crafter partner, Autumn, made her some beautiful jewelry and a great sketch book. Zoe LOVES them and hasn't put them down in days. Here's some pics!

Those little hematite looking beads are magnetic so it can be a bracelet or a necklace, wicked cool.

AWESOME glass bead necklace.

Sketch book, with a unicorn on the front and note inside

Here's what I got from the awesome and talented Cabin Fever (Margie):

Margie crafted for every member of my family! For Zoe, my daughter, she crocheted this adorable hat I had wisted (because I knew it would look THIS cute on her) that we both love and sent her some Alaska temporary tattoos:

She sent my bun in the over fuzzy crocheted bear feet that are so cute I can barely stand to look at them without making some awful squealing noise:

For my husband, the cook of the family, she crocheted this awesome two-sided skull potholder...the one I've been eyeing in the Stitch n Bitch book I bought even though I can't crochet (how'd you know!?):

And for me, an AWESOME market bag (she saw that I was planning to make one at some point) that I absolutely love:

The pictures do it no justice.
My cat also loves it, can you tell?

And chocolate I plan to devour tonight, with a moose on it to match the cute moose-y wrapping paper she sent my goodies in. Unfortunately one of my cats is a paper-shredder and got to it before my camera did. Undecided

And probably my most favorite, these tiny gorgeous crocheted earrings. I am totally in love with them and to make them even more amazing...they were Margie's first attempt at tiny crocheting!

I love LOVE everything, Margie!! Being crochet-impaired it's really cool to get all these cool crocheted items!! I can only hope your crafter spoils you like you've spoiled me!!! Thank you!!!

So cute.

I received from Zelda.Suicide!! I got so spoiled, I love everything!!!

My big present was a cat bed. I have a weird, antisocial cat that hates the 3 other animals in my home and mainly lives, well, in my bedroom. SO I thought rather than leaving a sweater out for her to sleep on (when she's not sleeping ON MY FACE, that is...) I could have a color-coordinated cat bed for her. I got like, the awesomest cat bed ever:

Jamara, bedroomcat, tested it:

Aaaand my youngest, Valhalla, quickly pounced on her from behind sending her screaming under the bed. So I put the bed back out on the living room table to take a sunlit picture and it became pretty obvious that Jamara was going to have to share her bed.

Val is still in it as I type sleeping peacefully. What a creep.

Next I got this bad ass stencil that my partner used a necklace on my wist to come up with. I absolutely love it, and my husband loves it too. Big bonus points there!

So awesome. My other wall decorations are the most genius thing. They're foam board covered in all this beautiful fabric (100% dead on with my taste and what I want in that room, too!).

They hang like this:

And because my partner is SO awesome, she not only sent me fabric to play with, but a little present for my bun-in-the-oven. His initials spell out AARH! so it makes the pirate appliqu that much better:

Thanks Zelda.Suicide...you are an amazing swap partner!! I hope you like what I sent, I am having some serious anxiety!!

10  FO's: Skull Button "Buttony Sweater", Baby hoodie and Henry Rollins! in Knitting: Completed Projects by snowwhitesuicide on: February 25, 2008 08:32:14 PM
I finished these this past fall but never posted! (Ravelry distracted me!) So allow me to show off the last things I knit before I developed a pregnancy-induced knitting aversion!

Here's my skull buttons "buttony sweater" (free pattern from ohmystars.net)

My big advice for this sweater...don't use heavy metal buttons! My buttons (as awesome as they are) weight the sweater down big time. I sized the sweater up too which in hindsight wasn't necessary...although I can wear it now at 5 months pregnant so I guess that's a plus!

It's a shame Knit Picks discontinued this Panache yarn because it's sooooo soft. I used the "coal" color.

I knit Henry here for a Punk Rock Gift Exchange (blog swap) using the Knit Your Own Rockstar pattern from Stitch N Bitch:

And for a frilly change of pace, the baby hoodie (Called "Half Pint Hoodie") I knit for my baby cousin:

Thanks for looking!
