51  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Nessie's Locket from Twilight on: March 09, 2009 09:03:49 AM
I'm a huge fan of the Twilight series and use it for a lot of inspired crafting. This is one of the latest things I've done based on the series. It's from Breaking Dawn the final book of the series. I won't spoil any plotlines for those who haven't read it, but I'll just say this is my version of Nessie's locket.

whole thing:

For those who know Twilight, I was thinking about adding a really great stone wolf charm I have to the necklace to represent Jacob. What do you think? Should I add a Jacob charm or just leave it as is?
52  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 35 ENTRIES / Menu planning on: February 04, 2009 09:49:47 AM
One of my resolutions was to plan our weekly supper menu ahead of time and only buy groceries once a week as opposed to running to the grocery store every night! Hopefully, it will also help us save money, because I can plan ahead and make suppers based on what's on sale! I whipped up a menu planning card to go on the fridge every week. This card also has a small, parred down grocery shopping list of essentials that I might not have on hand for the particular meal. It fits on a half sheet of regular printer paper so I can print two to a sheet.

I used scrapbooking software to make it. Here's the basic JPEG:

I will be posting actual pics of a page with two cards on tonight when I get home and can upload them.
53  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fun with 3D Lacquer Glaze and pendants! on: January 30, 2009 07:45:08 AM
I have recently started using 3D Lacquer Glaze as opposed to resin when I only need a thin layer to seal mixed media jewelry. It's easier to work with and dries quicker. I made two necklaces recently using this method.

I was also experimenting with photo techniques here and using a homemade light box. I'm not completely satisfied with the results and I still had to edit the pics on my computer. What do you think? Are they still too dark?

C & C welcome!
54  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My Scrabble Tile Pendant on: January 20, 2009 12:37:47 PM
I have been wanting to do this for awhile. I managed to pick up two wayward scrabble tiles somewhere. I love the results! I am going to have to buy a bunch of these now! I used 3D glaze to make it.

C & C always welcome!
55  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Needle felted nursery rhyme pictures on: December 11, 2008 09:26:38 AM
Hey all! I am new to needle felting. I did two pictures based on nursery rhymes. Both are needle felted onto recycled felted sweater and inserted into frames.

56  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Refinished Wall Sconces on: December 03, 2008 01:03:33 PM
I never remember to take a before pic!  Roll Eyes Anywho, I have recently started refinishing that 70's gold plastic gaudy wall hanging stuff like sconces, mirrors, etc. Most recent is a pair of wall sconces. These were really ugly gold (I wish I'd remembered the before pics!) Here's the finished product with a fresh coat of paint:

57  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Spoon Ring on: December 02, 2008 01:48:18 PM
Hi. This might belong in reconstructed....
I made a spoon ring. Remember those? I had a really neat looking spoon, so I cut the handle off and bend it into a ring shape.

It fits my thumb.
C & C always welcome!
58  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Button Ornament on: November 19, 2008 12:23:10 PM
I saw the inspiration for this on Martha Stewart's website but didn't like that you couldn't see the front of the buttons. So I made my own version.  Cheesy

Sorry the pic seems a little dark! There are better ones and a tutorial on my blog.

Thanks for looking!
59  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Latest: swallows, Bella, and words (quite a few pics) on: November 11, 2008 02:38:35 PM
I went on a crazy jewelry making spree this weekend. Here are a few finished pieces.
First, I finally made a Bella bracelet (from the Twilight book series):

p.s. I love how this pic turned out!

I also made a swallow necklace. It's quite long (although it's hard to tell from the pic)

I made a bracelet with word charms. They say believe, create, and inspire.

Hope you like the fruits of my weekend labor!
C & C always welcome!
60  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Vintage Hankie turned cosmetic zippered pouch on: November 11, 2008 02:26:01 PM
I followed a fellow craftster tut on making a lined zipper pouch. Here's tut:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875.0
I had to unpick a few seams and do them over, but the result was awesome! I used a vintage hankie from the thrift store. I thought the ships embroidered on it were adorable and knew it needed to become something. Enter the zipper pouch! I used blue cotton for the lining. It turned out great (minus the swearing part while constructing!)  Wink Enough rambling, on to pics!

C & C always welcome!
