31  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Monopoly Game Piece Charm Bracelet on: December 31, 2009 01:08:26 PM
I made this charm bracelet out of vintage monopoly game pieces. I used my dremel to drill holes in for the findings. What do you think?

Also, what do you think of my new "hand model"?  Wink I bought the hand statute on sale at Marshalls. Love it!

C & C always welcome!
32  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Screen-Printed Pillow on: December 21, 2009 12:27:18 PM
I made this pillow recently out of a cotton linen fabric. I had bought some of Plaid's Simply Screen products, and I have to say, I'm a big fan. Screen printing without the expensive equipment! The only downfall of course, is you are stuck with using their available designs. Anywho... Here's the pillow:

Whaddya think? I'm going to try to screen on canvas next for some awesome wall art.
33  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / More Silverware Necklaces on: December 15, 2009 09:56:38 AM
Here's two more silverware pieces I did recently.

First, I flattened a spoon end and hand stamped the word "HOPE" on it:

Here's a view of the whole thing:

I also made a pendant using the handle of a spoon. It's very art deco style:

View with the snake chain:

I plan on making more of the serving spoon bracelets after Christmas. I have to finish up my present making first! Wink

C and C always welcome!
34  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Stamped Tile Coasters on: December 03, 2009 02:47:53 PM
I found a tute for these somewhere in blogland but can't remember exactly where (if someone knows, please post a link!)

I made coasters out of stone tiles (bought at Menards in a pack of Cool, a rubber stamp, some ink, clear sealer spray and felt.

It's pretty self explanatory: stamp the image you want on the tile, let it dry. Spray with sealer, let it dry. Put felt (I used the self sticking furniture circles from the hardware store) on the bottom to protect the furniture and you're done!

Sorry the pics are kinda yellow...flash went out in my camera!

C & C always welcome!
35  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Rustic Holiday Pillows on: December 03, 2009 02:40:53 PM
I made these pillows out of burlap and felt embellishments I found at the Dollar Tree. My mom had given me a huge pile of pillow forms she got at an auction.

Red burlap and snowflake. I fringed the edges on this one

Regular brown burlap and a Christmas tree:

Regular burlap and grey and white snowflakes. The snowflakes on this one had holes in them to hang as ornaments so I added the bow in the existing holes.

I just did a simple envelope back in case I ever wanted to change out the case:

I'm thinking I need to make the bow out of twine on the grey and white snowflake one. What do you guys think?

I did make a mini tute on my blog here if anyone is interested.

C & C always welcome!
36  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Latest Necklaces on: December 01, 2009 08:53:42 AM
I cranked out a few necklaces recently that I thought I would share.
First is a chunky chained piece that has a vintage spoon handle pendant and some other trinkets. I used a ribbon for the closure at the top:

Here's a vintage spoon handle pendant on just a silver snake chain:

Finally, I altered a domino with vintage images of a boy and girl. It's reversible with one pic on each side of the pendant:

37  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Gift Boxes and Santa Sign on: December 01, 2009 08:32:39 AM
I love Christmas! It's my favorite time of year. I jumped into my stash of Christmas scrapbooking paper recently and made a few things:

I covered some plain matchboxes I had laying around. All of them are big enough for a gift card or some jewelry except the one with just one Santa Head on it (he's just a little guy!):

Using some of that same paper, I made this sign:

I thought it turned out really cute! The base is some heavy duty chipboard I got at my Dollar Tree. I wish I would've gotten a bunch more of these, cause now when I went back they didn't have them anymore! Sad

Sorry the pics aren't the greatest. My camera's flash died, and this was the best I could do with natural light. New camera has been ordered and is on the way!

C and C always welcome!
38  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Latest stuff on: October 29, 2009 08:49:52 AM
I've been doing a lot of jewelry again lately. Here's some of the stuff I've gotten done:
Cupcake earrings (these are just post earrings):

Bracelet made from vintage dominoes:

And my favorite, a bracelet made from an old pie server:

Here's a view of it from the side so you can see the end of the server:

I love it! I made some other silverware stuff for my Mom's shop, but forgot to take pics of it before I left it there.  Roll Eyes I would ask her to take some and email me them, but it would be a nightmare to walk my non-tech savvy mother through it!  Cheesy

C & C always welcome!
39  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Two Pincushions on: August 25, 2009 01:06:43 PM
Most of the pincushions seem to be posted in here. So here goes. I made two pincushions recently.

One I made from a small (about 7 1/2 inches tall) tin chair that was a candleholder. I made the seat part into the cushion.

closeup of seat:

The other one I made from a terracotta basket I had. The basket is about 4 inches across and 3 1/2 inches high. I thought it looked like a picnic basket, so I used yellow and white gingham to simulate a picnic blanket.

C & C welcome!
40  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Tentacle pillowcase: freezer paper and bleach on: August 05, 2009 10:01:09 AM
I love my freezer paper. And bleach. In fact I love them both so much that pretty much everything I use a freezer paper stencil on, I bleach instead of using fabric paint. I just like the effect better. My latest creation is a pillowcase....with tentacles. That's right I said tentacles!

I of course choose a black pillowcase, which meant loads of separate applications of the bleach, which meant that my freezer paper started to come up a bit and made the edges bleed. But in the end, I decided I liked the look. Here's a closer pic so you can see what I mean:

Whadya think?
