I am glad I found this thread.  I am making gifts for my newly expecting brother and SIL and this tutorial is awesome.   I finished the first one so I am trying to upload the photo.  This is the first time I have posted a project, so forgive me if it doesn't work. Grin  It is 18" square with flannel, flannel backed satin (purple with stars), chenille (lt. green), satin and grosgrain ribbons.

I used to work in theatre as a scenic painter, and I regret not learning how to upholstery.  You did a great job!  I have a couch at my house that needs that desperately.
