11  Re: Eight Kilts for the Scottish Fling Weekend! With real pictures! First page! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: September 27, 2008 10:30:30 AM
Thanks! Honestly, there really isn't too much to them if you have a decent pattern. My biggest problem was fit. My friend took all the measurements and made them a bit off. But if you have any problems PM me!

12  Eight Kilts for the Scottish Fling Weekend in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: September 22, 2008 10:08:09 AM
Grin Well! A group of eleven of my friends decided to make the trip to Scottish Fling weekend at rennfaire this weekend so of course I ended up making the kilts.

There were eight total, three different plaids, four different designs based on what people wanted.

I'll have better pictures of these kilts and all the guys' kilts when I find my camera! But for now... here are the four girls!

The girl on the left had her own kilt, I made the other three. I'm the furthest right.

They're all Irish not Scottish... so they aren't necessarily as traditional as they could be. Plus, it just doesn't make sense. But we had fun!

13  The Distraction Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: September 02, 2008 03:35:17 PM
Sunday I was having some problems with panic attacks and stupid boys... so I made a dress to try and calm myself.

It's McCalls 5575. The pattern should have been simple but I was having trouble focusing so who even knows what happened.

Not a great picture. The green is a little mintier.

Alli, the lake and the last shot are wonderful! I especially love the intense colors.

15  Photographing friends- Help taking candids (Picture Light) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by purevitality on: July 07, 2008 04:53:35 PM
As said in a previous post, I'm focusing on the more basic parts of photography. I'd like to work on taking better pictures of people. So, here is what I'm starting with! I only have a few pictures on this computer. Please, tear me apart!

16  Scotland/London Pictures- Try not to laugh! (9 Pictures) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by purevitality on: July 07, 2008 04:49:21 PM
Ok! So, I haven't played with my camera in a bit but I just got the last roll I shot developed. They aren't great but I'd LOVEEEE some criticism to start pointing me down the right path! Thanks so much! Enjoy!

Some of them were just candids, which I'm trying to get better at.

17  Who DOESN'T go dressed up to the Spice Girls' reunion concert? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: May 18, 2008 10:36:55 PM
I should say first of all...this is just a blatant attempt to avoid bed. Shhh...

Alright so! Being that I'm 17, the Spice Girls hit the peak of their popularity right around when I was young, easily influenced, and clingy. So obviously I was pretty obsessed.

I guess this borders somewhere between loyalty and stalking...

GINGERRRR (based on the sequin mini dress she wears during the concert)

Posh, Sporty, Baby, Ginger, Scary

Ran into a few others Gingers along the way (Psh. Posers)

Obviously, not all that impressive. Not like anything I would wear usually but... not bad for a one hour dress. Had to be cut off at the end of the night. Hurt.  Undecided

Hm... I guess this means I should go to bed.

Thanks for looking!

And of course...

18  Pleasantly Peach Prom Dress (not toooo many pictures. but enough.) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: April 20, 2008 08:07:17 PM
First of all, thank you very much couturefreak! For both the pattern inspiration and all the help!

This dress was farrrr to rushed to be exception. Prom happened to be a few days after the final days of a show and the last projects of the term. So... it's not without flaws. But I AM in love with the color. If I could change anything, I'd leave the hem longer regardless of the dangerous-when-dancing aspect.

Cute, bragging, adorable boyfriend picture:

The pattern itself was tricky. And I feel like there was a mistake somewhere in there. But fun.

Any thoughts?

19  Prom Dress of my Dreams...now how to make it?! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by purevitality on: February 11, 2008 12:38:45 PM
Hey there  Cheesy

Craftsters have never let me down before so I have another question for everyone... I've fallen in love with this dress:

<a href="http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff309/rviscidy/?action=view&current=gerihal.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff309/rviscidy/gerihal.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

But I don't really have an idea on how to start!

I feel like I'm pretty capable of making it once I get it figured out...

Thanks in advance for the help!

20  Hot Pink Formal Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by purevitality on: January 07, 2008 05:48:14 PM
So, I got my darling Aphrodite (i.e. dress form) for Christmas so I thought I'd whip something up for the small formal I attended. Knowing almost everyone would should up in black, short beyond belief dresses...I figured the opposite would be a good idea.

I thought the dress looked a lot better in person, so I'm hoping to get some better pictures soon! Because this really doesnt do it justice!

(notice in the framed picture on the window is the first dress I ever sewed four years ago. Nostalgia!)

And just to show the difference:

Comments/criticism welcome!

Off to start the prom dress!

Merry crafting!
