I love love love these lamps!  Absolutely fabulous!  Have you figured out how to un-lopside them?

Yes! Finally I have! My digital camera is having some weird purple line issues, but as soon as i figure that out i am going to post new pictures.

So, I had put a stablizing screw in the top of the bulb and that threw everything off. So I took that out and voila! They are perfectly straight now. I know it sounds really simple, but I have never put a lamp together before and thought that screw was essential. Oh well, at least I figured it out.

Wow! thanks for all the awesome comments. I am sure that I am not the first person to do this, but I was sure proud of myself when I finished.

This is freakin' cool!  I have an old globe I would love to do this too.  I think I may even poke little holes in my favorite cities/ places I'd like to visit some day, so little points of light show through... 

that is a great idea! I love it! Now if I could just find the right size drill bit.

but i can't help but think you need to put a few pastys on the points....lol

I have some tassels that might work really well for that. If only they could figure out on their own how to spin counterclockwise! 

I like 'em    My mom used some for the same concept, but she decorated them a bit.

...what is on your light?  Did you decorate that too? 

I was thinking about decorating them up a bit, but I think I am going to paint the room a really bright color, so I thought I would keep the accessories neutral.

The light is from Unica LIghting, I believe. It was a wedding gift.


I wish I made it. Everybody askes if I did, so I think i am about to start taking credit. 

I got married last year and bought 30 of these white umbrellas from Oriental Trading Post (for like $3/piece) for the guests at the wedding. They looked lovely, but I got home with about 20 of them and no place to put them. So.... there was this big space in my bedroom above my closet and below the ceiling that needed covering and I was in the process of picking fabric to sew curtains when I got this idea!







I hope you like it! I know it's really simple, but I am really liking the look. AND they hide all the ugly luggage and files that I have up there. Wo hoo!

I will. I am trying to find a cool piece of metal tubing to go over the tape. I think that will work really well. The only problem with that is I am working up the courage to take them down and take them apart again... there is no way to get the tube on without virtually starting all over. But that's okay! It never works out right the first time.

thanks for the compliment on the wall color. my man friend says it's the exact same color of mac and cheese.... which i think is an insult from him, but i have to say.... i love mac and cheese!
