2  i'm so in love with this apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by raeannimal on: February 24, 2009 11:39:09 PM

i've been working on this apron for the last two days. it's made out of an old robe i got at goodwill, an old unworn slip and an old dress i bought from a yard sale, and some tulle i actually bought from a store for something else. and a button that i had in my collection.

i did some hand sewing and intentionally didn't really make it perfect. but i love it. (in that last picture i'm standing next to a portrait my BEST friend painted for me. Wink Wink )

i've been hoarding that apron bag for years. i made this for one of my other best friends, who makes amazing vegan food ALL the time, and she loves hello kitty. so voila. hopefully she loves it.

thanks. Wink

3  the dress and skirt aprons in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by raeannimal on: February 24, 2009 10:03:48 PM
first of all, this is a terrible picture, but it's the only one i got before giving them to the couple they were made for.

they're both WAY loud, in relation to color and dress choices. they love crazy clothes.

when i told one of them that i was making them gifts for their birthdays, he said "the uglier the better". Wink

one was made with some shirred dress material i had, and the other was made with a skirt i've had forever, and an adorable tshirt i got at a thrift store forever ago, that you can't see very well but is some animals and a couple kids all holding hands and it says "peace to all, big and small", cut up and made into a pocket.

they're messy. but everything i make is messy.

5  dinosaur rap inspired costume in Halloween Costumes by raeannimal on: February 24, 2009 09:08:40 PM
this is way way late, but this is the dinosaur headdress i made last minute for halloween. i wore some of my boyfriends clothes so i looked more like a stoner triceratops. it was made with cardboard, spray paint, a rubberband, a couple staples. the face horn was made with some paper bag, some orange tissue paper i found lying around, and some floss. cost me: nothing.

it was inspired by the whitest kids you know's dinosaur rap. if you: aren't a kid, aren't at work, and don't hate p.o.t. humor, you should check it out. it's brilliant.

7  brandon mannly jr the second (lot's of pictures, AND a few male nipples) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by raeannimal on: February 24, 2009 08:45:23 PM
hi Wink

i had to have a doll for my infant massage class, decided to make one. he's very primitive, didn't take basically any time, he has a mustache that i made out of bike innertube i've been meaning to recycle, and even has one leg that's shorter than the other, much like his dad, brandon mann. i introduce you to brandon mannly jr  the second.

he's actually recycled, too. used to be an old dress. he's stuffed with some memory foam i had.

that's his back. the cloud i threw on at the last minute, from an old t shirt that i ran by while gathering materials (same with the heart). my boyfriend and i got matching tattoos a couple years before we started dating, and i thought it'd be cute if he had something similar.

just for fun, that's a picture of mine right after i got it, and a picture of b's. (sorry about the nipples). thanks for looking Wink

9  birthday burger cake in Dessert by raeannimal on: September 07, 2008 11:40:17 PM
so my friends and i have a running joke involving my boyfriend demanding big macs, whilst drunk.

his birthday was in august, and literally a day before this post we decided it'd be hilarious if we made a cake that looked like a big mac, and had it delivered in a big mac box.

it didn't quite work out that way, although this cake was much more vivid in person, and we did cut out a section in the middle and made a smaller, personal, more burger looking burger cake.  i guess this is the sourdough-bacon-added-square burger variety?

the pic:

anyway. it's kind of crazy that we made the decision to make the cake, and then i got home and checked craftster, to find a picture of, and the directions on how, to make such a glorious cake.

so i basically followed those directions. THANK you Avian Flight.

here are a few more (relatively crappy) bonus bday pics:

and

Wink thanks for looking.
