1441  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Basting zippers on: December 08, 2007 09:54:43 AM
Once you use a glue stick, it could become your best friend. It is so easy to just tack something in place temporarily (like a zipper or seam). Another good thing is if you need to take out the zipper because of a mistake, it just comes right off. Some glue stays on the fabric, but make sure you get the washable kind & it will wash right out. I use it all the time & I love it! Give it a try, I think you'll like it.  Smiley

Thank you for your response. I've done everything you've stated (even cutting the zipper underneath & using a 1/4" seam), except my "square" was 1 1/4" - thought it would help & it did somewhat. I did make this bag & it turned out pretty good. The corners still aren't boxy, but it's ok. I'm going to make another one again & try it exactly how you do it. Thanks again for this, I love learning something new.  Grin

I too am having trouble w/the corners not sitting boxy like yours & everyone else's. I am using your technique w/coin purses & I've made about 4 & they just don't look right. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I love this tut - making this bag is next on my list.

Are you kidding me? Your sewing is awesome. I like the wallet & the slippers are cute. Grin
