I'm not sure what kind of plastic you are talking about? Is it like formica? and is it glued/nailed? If it's not nailed and comes off easily, you could probably just sand it down and just refinish

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / window covering on: August 18, 2004 06:19:15 AM
I need some ideas for a window treatment for a window with a round top. I have curtains that I could use for the bottom half but really need something for the tops. The sun comes in really bright in the afternoons on that side of the house. I haven't seen anything like rounded top blinds or shades or anything. Any ideas would be very helpful! Thanks!

well, you could use an old chair that you have an make a slipcover for it. Or I saw on TV the other day, if it's not easy to recover/slipcover, you can iron on new fabric.

I went last night and got the paint (not the magnet stuff  yet). I think I am going to paint the dresser red with each drawer a different color pulled from the rest of the room. Also, one wall is half corkboard, the bottom half wood. I thought about painting the cork (there is writing and stuff on it now). and maybe painting a dartboard on it or something. I also need ideas for a desk for his room. I don't want to spend a ton of money on one, and he needs one for his computer. I thought about going to the goodwill or something and painting it to match the dresser. Do you think it would be too much to do them the same?
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / my new bedroom on: August 17, 2004 06:21:21 AM
My family of four is moving into my mom's house (she's moving to my stepfather's late mother's house) and I want to do something to my new bedroom without changing a whole lot. The walls are a very light pink.. almost off-white, with the bottom half wood.. with wood floors. I have antique furniture also that was my great aunt's to go in there as well. I need some ideas for colors, I don't want anything too feminine, maybe light sage green or something. The windows have the roll down blind things that I am not too fond of and would like to either do curtains or something neat to the blind itself. That master bath is attached with no door, any ideas of what to put there instead of a door.. maybe a sheer curtain of some sort? I don't want to do anything too permanant, we are building our own home and will be doing the major stuff there when it is done. The look of the rest of the house is very homey.. not really country, but lots of wood. I don't want to go retro or too modern. Any ideas of how I could spruce things up around here?
