1  Re: 100 Facts Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by TracyInNH on: July 16, 2009 11:59:10 AM
woohoo!  received from hockamama yesterday!  There were a few casualties in the box, but the most loved items by me made it, so it's all good Smiley

The filled box when I opened it!

A bunch of sweet smelling bath sachets - something new she tried! - Chammomile and Lavender

I couldn't get a good shot of these...etched glasses!  They have the alliance logo from World of Warcraft...from my wists

This isn't a very good pic of it, I'm excited and want to post pictures lol.  I've been wanting a silverware windchime for ages and love the coffee pot!  I actually hope it rusts just a little in the future Smiley

Group shot of more loot - Eye magents (very cool - and creepy), notecards (I send short letters all the time), Lavender scrub, and a journal book she made from what must have been a hilarious old book (this will be used to start my first altered journal), postcards and bookmark

And here is our first breakage..she sent some small glass jars, two broke but I still have two!  Any some book thongs...love the orange one!

and finally, the cinnamon bath salts that I was excited to see - the jar broke during shipping.  I was going to try to salvage it, but I'm afraid of glass pieces.

******    THANK YOU SO MUCH HOCKAMAMA !!   ******

5  Re: Let's strip! the swap with a twist in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by TracyInNH on: June 03, 2009 07:54:43 AM
I've finished my top so I'll jump in and post a few pics.  I did something a little different and sewed all the strips together to make a huge strip piece.  Then I used my 6" square template and cut squares at angles to make a pinwheel.  I cut the leftovers into 2" strips, sewed one long strip and used that for the sash.  It isn't as big as I wanted it to be, but I used almost all of the fabric!

In process - I cut squares, sewed strips together and cut more squares:

The finished quilt!  It was amazing to me how different each square is using the same technique to make them:

My favorite square - I hung this on my sons wall to get pics, and he hasn't asked me to take it down yet so I think I know who this quilt will be for Smiley  You can also see the sash, it's made up from cutting scraps after the squares

6  Re: Budget Meals Swap Gallery of Deliciousness! in The Swap Gallery by TracyInNH on: June 01, 2009 11:31:16 AM
Ok, here it is!  Received a cool package from Loralyn the other day:

A folder full of recipes with them on a cd in pdf - if I ever get around to actually installing my cooking software, this will come in handy!  Also, two articles about being on a budget (haven't read them yet).  There's a packet of recipe index cards - I'm actually in the process of writing my camping recipes on them to put in our pop up!

There was also a wrapped little package that made me ooh and aah when I opened just the card!  I can't find the pic of the card just now, but if I do I will upload the hand made scrappy goodness Smiley  I gave an awwed wow when I opened the paper.  A gorgeous apron!  This is sewn beautifully...trimmed with red rick rack, chicken and egg fabric with a nice pocket for me to gather eggs in (we have 30+ chickens).  The lettering on the pocket was fabric stitched.  I can't tell you how beautiful this is in person!

There was noone home to give me an action shot, so my puppy Togo volunteered...kinda (he's staring at the biscuit I put there so he would hold still).  Thank you so much, I love this apron!

Hmmm, there's a bunch of good recipes here but I think I'm actually going to try this one tomorrow:

Slow Cooked Oriental Chicken

4 lb chicken cut into serving pieces              2 Tbsp water
2 tbsp oil                                                 1 clove garlic, minced
1/3 c soy sauce                                        1 Tsbp ginger root - fresh; minced
2 Tbsp brown sugar

Brown chicken in oil. transfer to slow cooker.  combine remaining ingredients and pour over chicken.

cook on high for 1 hour.  reduce heat to low, cook 4-5 hours longer.

serve with rice and steamed broccoli.

Tips:  she has cooked this on just low and it turned out fine.  she keeps her fresh ginger in the freezer and grates it right into the pot.

Ok, got my 2ND box from my stalker hotty_blond2000  ---  and wow!

The first box made me happy, so this just puts it over the edge!  gonna be pic heavy again Smiley

Lemme see...theres a pair of thick knit socks that I'm sure my hubby will snag when he sees them,  a beautiful scarf that I can't wait to wear out, cup holder-I've already started embroidering a daisy on it!, matchbook notepads, a bag of earrings etc that she made (love it!), recipe cards because I've signed up for the budget food swap, bookmarks and a project I can't wait to finish- a frog threadcatcher!

She painted a coffee cup on canvas, I was hoping to get some artwork!  This will go in my kitchen Smiley  A hand held sewing gadget, hopefully I can use this easy, it will come in handy when camping and I want to craft, a vampire plaque, and a magnetic tray with the notepaper painted on - she had trouble finding sheets of magnets to put the words together, but I think I've seen some at Michaels so I'll go friday and get them!  My teenager will take this when it's done lol.

finally, she sent some supplies for projects she knows I'm working on and some crafting books!

I'm so overwhelmed, this is one of the best swap packages I think I've gotten!  Thank you so much hotty_blonde2000, this was fantastic Smiley Smiley Smiley

I received!  My stalker is hotty_blonde2000.  It took me a while to go thru all of the stuff in the box...I was so excited!  One of her posts said theres a second box coming, so I am definately spoiled  Grin  Kinda pic obese.

Onto the pics from box one that arrived today:

Misc. goodies for me to play with...keyboard keys so I can make my keylander (magnetic calendar on fridge with keyboard keys)

A dragon egg!  I've wanted a floppy disk holder for my desk, but this one in yellow is cool!  Also a little box that will go on my desk too...aaaand a Harry Potter wand!  My four year old confiscated it and tried to make the cats disappear.

A kit for me to start making resin items woohoo!  Molds and little bits of stuff to use in it.

My Mr. Alex with a permanent grin on his face with the wand...trying to watch COPS

and finally some little notepads made with old goosebumps trading cards, a little pin pouch that is perfect to keep my needles in and chocolate!!

Thank you so much, you gave me a very happy half hour opening items lol.

9  Re: Book Lovers Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by TracyInNH on: May 04, 2009 01:39:13 PM
I received from goosegg1001 Smiley

Group shot:

There is a tote bag that she used the freezer stencil to do, chicken tissues ( I have lots of real chickens here! ), a crosstitch bookmark that says "You can never get a cup of coffee large enough, or a book long enough to suit me" - oooh, how true!

The books she sent are Jonathan Kellermans "Dr. Death" and Sophie Kinsella's "The Undomestic Goddess".  Dr. Death looks creepy and the kind of book I would read in full daylight lol.  the Undomestic Goddess looks really funny, I've never read anything by either author, so I'm anxious!

And finally, this little guy deserved his own pic:

so far this makes the third one I've gotten in swaps and I love them!

Thank you Goosegg1001, nice package!

10  Re: Let's Strip - the swap with a twist - Gallery Edition! in The Swap Gallery by TracyInNH on: May 04, 2009 12:57:39 PM
Hello!  I've received two strips today Smiley

From mlheran

From mlookyloo1

I love them both!  The yellows in mlookyloo1's look great together and I would use the colors from mlheran for most of my quilts that I do for gifts.  Can't wait to get started on the quilt! One more strip to receive and I'm good to go Smiley
