1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Custom Quilting on Applique Quit- Happy Dance! on: April 11, 2008 12:59:57 PM
I got it done!  This custom quilt finished and it will be delivered this afternoon.  I think she's gonna flip as she didn't have very high hopes for it.

I used McTavishing in the background of the applique blocks, flower petals in the blossoms, veins in the leaves. I used the applique vine in the outside border as the spine for my feathers.  Then I put piano keys behind the feathers to give them depth.  The outside border will be scalloped.

It took way more time than I anticipated but it was worth it.

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / McTavishing- ouch! on: March 30, 2008 02:54:06 PM
I spent a few hours doing McTavishing in the background of an applique quilt.  Each block took about 30 minutes.  There were 12 blocks.  Ouch!!! My neck and upper back hurt!  I'm planning on adding veins in the leaves and petals in the flowers but I needed to get the background out of the way.  I'll post more pictures when I make a bit more progress!

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Jelly Roll Strip Quilt- Done! on: March 30, 2008 02:50:39 PM
I just pulled this off the frame yesterday.  It is a strip quilt made from a moda jelly roll and I quilted it for a woman in my guild.  She didn't like the top at all but I think she'll love it now that it is quilted.  I didn't think I'd be able to work on it until next week so she'll be surprised when I get it back to her on Thursday!

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / XOXOXO, The Cat fabric line on: March 23, 2008 08:09:26 AM
Take a look at this new fabric line coming out next month.  Make sure you click on the different swatches of the written messages that are included from the cat.  Make sure you click on each color of the "notes" because each has different messages.  Too funny!
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Charity Quilt for foster teen program on: March 19, 2008 07:21:51 AM
This quilt will go to to a teen in the foster care program in St. Louis, MO.  It was pieced by a friend and I got to quilt it.  Didn't she do a great job with the batiks?

I quilted it with different sized dahlias and meandering leafy vines.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Featheration on: December 12, 2007 06:02:09 AM
I picked up a new to me pantograph from called Featheration at the Houston Quilt show.

I'm using it on five wholecloth quilts for a commercial client.  It is turning out so beautiful so I had to share!

I love the movement it gives to just plain ol' fabric.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Baby Bonnets on: December 01, 2007 02:26:11 PM
I just pulled this off the frame and I love the playfulness of the blue bonnets dancing across the quilt top.  It is for a lucky little infant angel who is recovering from heart surgery right now.  I quilted it for his aunt.  She's got me working on a batik quilt right now with metallic thread.  I started calling it names so I'm taking a break from it for tonight. Cool

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / 2007 Houston Quilt Show Winners - Eye Candy Galore! on: November 09, 2007 07:26:19 PM
I was lucky enough to go to the Houston International Quilt Show last weekend.  Inspiration was simply everywhere.

Check out the winners- including the $10,000 award winner.  AMAZING!
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilt for a Cure on: October 25, 2007 02:34:06 PM
I pulled this off the frame today.  It is a quilt top made by the customers of my local quilt shop.  They pieced it and I quilted it.  The top is part of the Quilt for a Cure program and will be auctioned off to raise money for research.

I've got one more pink beauty to finish for them.
