1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Seeking the Input of Fellow Geeks and Crocheters Alike on: December 17, 2014 11:40:20 AM
Fellow geeks and crocheters, I was tasked with making my father a hat that was suitable for wearing in public. After last year's "unwearable" viking helm with horns, and the year before gifting him a blue Santa Hat with Spock ears I think he missed being able to wear my gifts the other 363 days of the year he's not Christmas-ing.

I have succeeded and made a (booorrrring) plain navy "watch cap" but that wasn't enough (to prevent you from nodding off, I have neglected to include pictures). So I made this attempt at subtle geekdom. I'm just concerned it's either too subtle or completely indiscernible.

Thoughts?

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mario Mushroom Blanket on: June 30, 2012 04:15:22 AM
My best friends just had their first baby. They didn't find out the sex beforehand so they could be surprised so they did the baby's room gender-neutral. Obviously, Super Mario Brothers was the most logical gender-neutral theme for two geeks. I have been working on the blanket for MONTHS! It's from The Pixelated Mushroom (http://pixelatedmushroom.blogspot.ca/2010/05/pixelated-mushroom-rug.html).

So, on with the show!

They had a beautiful baby girl early this week, who looks just like her daddy.

Here are some hats I've made recently. I make up patterns as I go.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mewtwo on: January 06, 2011 12:06:26 PM
I found the pattern for this on deviantart but I could not find an email address for the creator. If this is your pattern please let me know and I will sent along more pictures.

I had a hard time finding Pokemon that was appropriate for an 11 year old girl so I made this for my niece and back-stitched her name on to it. This is a pic without the name.

5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi Birthday Cake on: January 06, 2011 06:05:40 AM
I made this for a friend's daughter on her second birthday. I winged the pattern and embroidered "Happy Birthday" on top.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Nalbinding with Needle Felted Embellishments on: May 24, 2010 06:03:18 AM
My mom took a trip to Newfoundland last August. They went to the recreated viking settlement Lanse Aux Meadows where she was given a demo of nalbinding. She thought it was pretty cool and, knowing my crafty streak and love of challenges, she bought me an instructional CD and a needle. This is my only completed project because nalbinding takes forever. I've only learned the simplest stitch so far.

The purple swirly things are needle felted on. I thought the plain green hat with a purple brim was a little boring.

8  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Cupcake and Short and Sweet on: July 19, 2008 03:04:46 PM
These are the first sweaters I have ever made. I think they turned out beautifully, but right after I finished Cupcake I got pregnant and now I am too big to wear it. I can still wear Short and Sweet, but I have nothing work appropriate to wear it with.
