1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Summer Stashbusting projects on: June 26, 2006 11:05:51 AM
I have a bunch of random skeins of yarn - mostly different types of DK weight

Most stashbusting projects assume that you have a lot of different yarn that all goes together perfectly - but I always have random colours!

Anyway I feel guilty working on mittens or something so does anyone have any ideas for summer stash busting projects?

Not allowed to buy any new yarn!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help identifiying lace stitch on: January 02, 2006 06:34:46 AM
I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the lace stitch in this sweater is called (looks pretty easy but I have no clue what its called)? A pattern for it would also be awesome!

Thanks! Cheesy
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for nice DK polo neck jumper on: July 19, 2005 09:41:48 AM
I got some gorgeous green Rowan DK yarn off ebay planning to use it for a cardigan, however now that I see the colour I think it would be nicer as a sweater, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice DK pattern for a polo neck (or any nice sweater), maybe something with a little cabling or intresting detail and preferably a pattern that includes a 32" size

A free online pattern would be great, but even if its just a recommendation in one of the Rowan books or something, that would be great too

Thanks a lot Cheesy

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Marking dark fabric? on: November 27, 2004 02:27:29 PM
Undecided What do you find is the best method for marking dark fabric? I was making some felt appliques for a few new bags tonight. The white one went fine as I was able to use my pink fabric marker that disappears

What I usually do when using black felt is trace my drawing onto dressmaking paper and then try and cut around it, this works ok for most things but on the one I was doing tonight I lost lots of detail and then managed to cut the applique girls arm off  Angry goddammit! There must be an easier way!

Any tips? If it goes really bad I might switch to white but thats not not the design I really want  Cry

Thanks in advance
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crochet scarf - how to on: November 07, 2004 08:55:18 AM
Well I figured ive got this knitting dealy pretty sorted so Im determined to learn crochet

I think Ive got the chain stitch sorted out and am working on the single crochet thing but Ive got a few questions

1) How the heck do I get past my first row?

2) How would you go about making something like this?

Ive been watching the stitchguide videos and while in theroy theyre great, I think their a bit fast for my idiot mind to contemplate  Huh
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitty heart scarf - to tassel or not to tassel? on: October 30, 2004 11:15:39 AM
I just finished my heart scarf from the special knitty suprise - seriously this took 4 days which (for me anyway) is just insane for a scarf! cant beat instant gratification

Anyway I have to weave in my ends and block it, but as I used less wool than expected and still have 1 left I was wondering if I should add tassels? Ive even provided an "artists impression" of what this would look like LOL

This pictures pretty horrible (bright red againsh blue carpet YUCK!) but you get the idea?Ill post a nicer one when its completely done  Smiley

Well to tassel or not to tassel?

PS. I dont like my bind off Im just gonna re do it so ignore that
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / i dont mind the weather... on: September 16, 2004 07:38:15 AM
inspired by the sudden on set of crappy authum weather (jumpers and scarves YAY!) i made a new messanger bag

The grey fabric is an old duvet cover and all the other stuff (buttons, interfacing, zip etc) and the lining fabric I had lying around so i didnt spend any money specifically for this bag.

It has a zip pocket, plus lots of other pockets for pens, my phone etc. theres also a little key holder thing to make it easier to find my keys, Its  very huge but it should be fine for carrying books and what not to univeristy  Cheesy

I sewed the lining together 3 times! Thinking i'd sewn it backwards, ripping it out and sewing it the same way, riipping it out, sewing it up (thinking it was wrong again!) and finnally relising  i just hadnt turned it inside out the right way all along  Embarrassed opps!
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / make up bag *edited - better pictures =]* on: September 14, 2004 05:14:49 AM
Ive been making stuff for ages and have lurked on crafster since its  beginning , today i thought Id actually post something I made! Its not even the best thing Ive ever made so Im not too sure why im starting with it  Undecided

Its a dinky little make up bag. Made with a pink canvasy (not too sure what it is) material  (white stuff that i got from ikea and dyed) .Its lined with a soft waterproof silky nylon material (i think!) .

*edited- i reinstalled the zip because im very very persnickety with my projects  Roll Eyes (but also lazy LOL its an odd combination!) so its less wonky and then i took some better photos
